Beany Blitz of an Airfix Zero - wall art mounted stylee.

I had my Christmas day yesterday afternoon when I got home from working away since before Xmas. Part of my haul was the Airfix Zero as you can see nestled in here ...


...so I will have to Blitzbau it before the GB end date. I will do it wheels up and frame mounted as is my style occasionally, like these two from earlier this year




It won't be a genuine timed Blitz, but more of a "Hastiebau" due to the limited time left available (we still have Rellies to visit and so on before the new year/end of the GB etc).

Easy mate - 1.5mm bras rod (solid) bent into a 6mm ish square at on end to fit into a slot cut under the fuselage. Then pass the other end through a hole drilled in the backboard and then bend and secured flat against the back with Gaffer Tape or between two pins (I used Hornby Track Pins) - or anything to hold the rod upright and stop it rotating.



The trick is to photograph the plane at an angle that obscures the rod!

I paint the backgrounds with tube acrylics and then scan, print, cut out and glue on the three Spitfires in the BF-109E case - haven't gotten round to doing it for the F-51D yet!

I'd love to say "Challenge Accepted!" but unfortunately I don't have a B-36.

I have made a start on the Zero however.

The instructions have Hu226 Interior Green as the call-out for the interior (duh!) but I cut it about 50/50 with Hu90 to get more of a Bamboo Green which I read was more likely. From what I've read it seems that discussions and arguments on the subject of Japanese aircraft interior colours accounts for about 10% of the entire internet - true story!



After these photos I quickly brush painted Tamiya Silver over the entire airframe ready for the light weathering/chipping that will be applied to the Tamiya Imperial Japanese Navy Green later.
