Very fine rivets and recessed panel lines. Very nice for such an old kit!

First coat of light grey on:

The instructions state "bright grey" for the colour. I think "light grey" does the trick.

Don't you just love Japanese-English!
My Hase kit requires the application of 'cowl colour' and 'propeller colour'...... :???:
Best wishes

Painting done, I think!

The instructions stated white for the spinner, but that doesn't look right to me, so I used aluminium instead.

I got most of the decals on yesterday, with only a couple more left to do.

However, the natty blue stripe that I wanted to apply on this one broke up after I took it from the water dish, and I don't fancy doing another scheme, so.....

I have to attempt to hand-paint it!

Most of the decals on now:

They went on OK except for the starboard wing roundel, which broke up a little. I managed to rescue it for the most part, though.

I'll have a go at painting the blue stripe later.

I'm calling this one done:

If I was more talented, i would have added some detail to the cockpit. As it was, I changed the pilot figure to that from the Matchbox Spitfire, as I thought he looked a bit better. Having said that, though, this was a nice build - simple enough, but nice detail on the outside. Ample opportunity to improve upon it if you wanted to, but nice enough to leave "as is".

I might be a bit of a heathen, but I really like the clipped-wing Zero's look. Shame there doesn't seem to be any survivors around, however.

As a bonus, here's the original, which someone on Facebook looked out for me:
