Re: Lancfan's A6M3 Hamp
To start off, the cockpit needed some work using the cockpit moulds I made for the Rufe build, the sidewalls were milled down to make room for the resin skins and new sidewalls were moulded in place on the inside of the fuselage, in the lower LH corner sits the truly awful kit bathtub that served as the cockpit.
Here is the completed new resin cockpit ready for painting.

The interior was then painted and the fuselage assembled, when the glue had dried I milled away the underside of the cockpit floor over the wheel wells.
Upon dry fitting the wing halves I found that the three parts do not fit evenly so the underside half had to be sanded down until the upper wing parts fitted flush.
Looking at the surface detail I primed the airframe to more clearly reveal the detail so that I did not remove the wrong features, with the paint dry I then removed the raised lines and rivets and engraved the fuselage break point aft of the cockpit. The wing was then fitted to the fuselage.

Re: Lancfan's A6M3 Hamp
Using yet more silicone putty I made moulds from the NT Airfix Zero wheelbays and used these to duplicate the Airfix details inside the Hasegawa wheelwells.
The model will be finished in kit markings for a fighter of the 204 fighter squadron IJN flying from the Solomon Islands. to begin the model was primed in Revell Light Grey 76- time to walk across the minfield! although the Pearl Harbor Zero colours are more or less sorted out the later IJN Zero colour schemes are not, the kit is quite old and has dated and incorrect colour notes, there are lot's of opinions for later war Zero colour schemes and some sites seem to be getting close to the truth but there are still doubts as to what is correct and what is wrong. I have gone for a Revell colour called Stone Grey 75- it is a dead match for Humbrol H168 Hemp and covers far better.
The Black Green disruptive was applied next, this is based on the patterns in the kit instructions as I could not find an online picture of a 204 Sqdn aircraft. As it was an involved pattern I did this in three stages, stopping for a break periodically to prevent my getting tired of the task and letting the pattern 'simplify' as I went along.

Re: Lancfan's A6M3 Hamp
Unfortunately it is too smart- I forgot to weather it as I did for the Rufe, this rectification is now almost complete, pictures TF.

Re: Lancfan's A6M3 Hamp
I unfortunately forgot to weather this model, so after rubbing down the paint at the wing root I proceeded to prepare this area for weathering, to begin I painted the wing root with alluminium, varnishing over it when dry (1) I then applied rust colour to represent the red primer, again this was varnished over (2) Stone grey was then applied to replace the factory finish (3) this was then rubbed down to show wear and tear before restoring the field applied disruptive (4)
