Mav's Iron Hawk - DNF "Pre-planning Error"

Post by IronMan129 »

My second every for the Blitz will be a 1/72 Airfix Hawk T.1.
This one is going to be a little different as I am painting her into the colours of Iron Man.
It's going to be alot of trail and error as no one as I can't find anything anywere online of an aircraft painted in these colours.
I purchased the paints I needed yesterday, Revell Farrari Red and Tamiya Gold.
Again no idea when this build will be so bare with me!

And so it begins!

If you haven't already seen above I am going to be painting this Airfix Hawk T.1 into the colours of Iron Man.
I am going to be building this in two sessions as I only ordered my other Vallejo Model Air paints last night and they wont be here for a couple of days.
This will also be my first attempt at using an airbrush so this build is going to teach me a hell of a lot!
My entertainment for this build will be a mix of Youtube Videos from Flory Models and Genessis Models and I will be getting through a nice big 2ltr bottle of Freeway Coke!
See you all in an hour!

First go with the airbrush and I'm well impressed!
Nice fast drying paint and really smooth and level!

Ha, that airbrush looks familiar!

Nice start on the Hawk, good luck with the air-brushing
Best wishes

Jssel - Haha yes it sure is!
I'm more or less finished with that bottle and may move onto another!

Iggie - Haha glad you recognise the compressor mate its doing rather well!
Thanks again mate!

Ok so the build slowed down slightly due to me having problems with the airbrush and to make it worse my phone died so I couldn't take pics and post them as my charger was far away from my workbench!

Anyway I'm about to have a try at a layer of black as primer as I want the red to be quite dark!

Primer on!
This maybe the last time this Hawk looks like a normal Hawk!
Image
I don't know how much further I can go with this one without the Red and Gold Vallejo Model Air paints so I'll see what I can do.
