As requested, Fred.
Nothing like corned beef hash, especially when tarted up with a fried egg and, get this, mushy peas. You can just hear our European and American friends retching at he thought. We had an expectant guest:
Tough luck, mate.
Back to work, now. I reckon I'll work on untill 10.30; I've got to go to Calais in the morning

Nice one! The meal that is. The models look rather hard going. Good luck.

Is one of you a left-hooker?
Mushy peas - best with a plateful of thick cut chips, all doused in malt vinegar, washed down by a good strong cuppa char

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

God, Fred, you are some gourmet!
Here's the update:
All parts are primed and although you can't really see it, undersides both have a first coat. Probably a bit more filler is needed. I'll give a big nod of acknowledgement to Vallejo acrylic putty, here.
I've got an hour to go, which means I've spent three on the actual build. I'd estimated five in total, so I might not be far off that. I've been a bit brusque in replying so far but I'll put that right in the next post.
Later!

Your cat looks like a great personality!
Best wishes

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Re: Right here! Right now! KB's teeny tiny Blitzbauchen
Right, that's it for tonight. State of play is:
Both have their undersides painted, plus a first top coat. For some bizarre reason I've painted the Tempest green first. Why? I never do this. I'll put the grey on next and then finish off the green, I've just no idea why I did it in this order. At least I got the FW190 the right way round. It's a pity you can't see inside the cockpits, both beautifully finished with aftermarket PE parts. You'll just have to take my word.
More filler was indeed required:
I love this putty, you can thin it and paint it into the gaps, anything really. Just like Tip-Ex, but more expensive so it must be better, right?
Sorry about not really responding to other peoples' posts; I find doing the posting the most difficult part of Blitzbau, to be honest, so:
Iggy: Completely agree with you about how these might put off a youngster; I only paid a quid each for these on the basis of any kit costing that has to be ok, but they take a lot of working even to get them to stick together. I'd have given up and gone back to my PS4 if I was a kid.
John: Rough? The expression 'badger's arse' comes to mind, if you're familiar with this Olde English colloquialism. You would, of course, say 'ass' but that's just a donkey to us.
David: The cat doesn't normally join us for supper. He's usually watching something on Netflix at this time of the evening and we rarely have anything he likes anyway.
Fred: No, we're both right-handed but Mrs. Bailey is incapable of setting the table from the wrong side.
I'll start this up again on Thursday morning. Au revoir et bon nuit, we have much wine-buying to do tomorrow.

They're looking grand
I moulded up pilots on seats for mine. Cast in resin for props, made some in lead for jets
I'm still working on a Ju87 and Me262. Finally got the fillers just about finished and some paint on

A very interesting blitz on two rather pants sounding kits. I've never had mushies with corned beef hash before, usually I have them with fish and chips or pork pie, but it looks like a combination worth trying.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

I have the Spitfire from this range for the express purpose of being the wreckage in the background to Airfix's RAF rescue vehicles box art.
Hope you manage to knock yours into shape

Shouldn't take too much imagination then going on the box contents!JamesPerrin wrote:I have the Spitfire from this range for the express purpose of being the wreckage in the background to Airfix's RAF rescue vehicles box

Re: Right here! Right now! KB's teeny tiny Blitzbauchen
Hmmm... I find that building them in factory fresh condition is a lot easier than building realistic looking wreckage. I'll grant that the demands on the basic kit are less, but those on the modeler are a lot higher.iggie wrote:Shouldn't take too much imagination then going on the box contents!JamesPerrin wrote:I have the Spitfire from this range for the express purpose of being the wreckage in the background to Airfix's RAF rescue vehicles box

Re: Back again, 10.30am Thursday - KB's teeny tiny Blitzbauc
And here we are again! I'm intending that this will be a 2-hour session (to be honest, that's about all the time I've got) so I'll start up at 10.30 and post at 11.30 and 12.30.
I've done the food bit already, but not mentioned the soundtrack, so for the record (ha!) we'll be listening to Human by Rag'n'Bone Man, Teeth Dreams by The Hold Steady and Sandtracks by Tiris. We'll probably have time for coffee and left-over stollen from Christmas - only just out of date, but what's the point of living if you can't take the occasional risk?

Here's where we started:
And here's where we've finished:
More paint on, probably just some tickling-up to do.
Decals, undercarriage and canopies next. Quick break now.
