Re: Back again, 10.30am Thursday - KB's teeny tiny Blitzbauc
Damn! I really underestimated with five hours. At least one more to go.
Decals are on the Tempest, it just needs a few more tidy-up brushstrokes and a quick blow-over with matt acrylic. The canopy is done, as is the undercarriage, so they can be just stuck on. The FW needs its decals and the rest.
On to the bitter end.

Those rough kits are scrubbing up really well.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Looking really good, considering the starting point!
Best wishes

Re: Back again, 10.30am Thursday - KB's teeny tiny Blitzbauc
Done.
At least, as far as I'm prepared to go.
Can't say that I'm delighted with either of these. I've come to the conclusion:
1. This wasn't a good Blitzbau choice. Building two tinies at the same seemed like a fun thing to do, but they're actually quite difficult.
2. 1/144 is a scale I need to avoid unless I stick to modern kits that cost more than a pound.
3. You could actually make a good job out of these little Revells, but you'd need a lot of time as they need loads of work doing to get them to fit. Adding extra detail would be quite possible.
4. I should have thinned my paints more than I did and gone for more coats, but time was of the essence.
5. I won't be building one of these again in a hurry (you can take that both ways!)
Yeah, all in all not a good Blitzbau for me, but entirely my own fault. I think I'll do another in a few days when we get over to Greece, but I'll make this next one conventional.
OT: it was apple-filled stollen from Aldi, only a week out of date.

silk purse/pig's backside comes to mind
They both look grand, and dividing total work time by two must be nigh on a record for a blitz......Revell ought to be ashamed though!

I didn't know that stollen could go out of date!
Excellent result with these two. Bravo.
Have some more stollen to celebrate.

Well done with these two extremely crappy challenging little kits and I think you've managed a decent result with both. Stollen never goes out of date here either. Nor does Battenburg. Not that we're greedy or owt like that you understand

Now we're talking! Cake is a much more interesting subject than 1/144 Revell monstrosities. Perhaps we ought to plan a cake-based GB. I shall be building a Bathbun Shark.
My personal favourite cake, though, is a vanilla slice, closely followed by Bakewell tart.
Just reread that and it sounds as if I'm a simultaneous two-cake man. Almost as bad as trying to build two teeny tiny aeroplanes at the same time.......................

Well done, you have done a good job out of two HORRID kits,I threw both my examples at the wall.Revell shoud be ashamed to put their name to kits like these,it could put newcomers off our wonderful hobby. As for the cake issue,no cake is bad cake IMHO.

Thanks all, for your kind and supportive comments. I'm relieved to find that I'm not the only cake fan on this forum, but also that other people have struggled with these Revell tiddlers.
