OT's Solo Blitz ***Finished***
I am planning to blitz build a 1/72 Hasegawa F-5A.
It's years since I built one and I can't remember what the fit is like.
Neither of the kit colour schemes appeal to me so I'll have to dig around the spares box for inspiration.
This will probably be a girly two 12 hour session build as I have decorating and family commitments to fulfil too.
Pics to follow.
Hope you can join me.

Looking forward to this; we'll be taking the boat up to the pub overnight but will try to keep in touch!
Best wishes

Re: OT's Solo Blitz ***Starting at 12:30 ***
Just setting up Iggie. This is the intended victim:iggie wrote:The suspense is killing me!
And here are the contents all sealed up ready to go:
I have found some old Airfix decals as neither of the kit ones are very exciting. I'm going with the Iranian F-5 as IMHO it looks very cool and I can practice spraying a NMF. I know I shouldn't experiment during a Blitzbau.
The plan is to get as much as I can done in this first session and break of about midnight. Then crack on and do the same hours tomorrow. That's a lot of hours so I need some sustenance before I start:
That should keep me going until mid afternoon.

Re: OT's Solo Blitz ***Started ***
Any we're off.
I'll have to change that clock as its far too bright.
Starting with the cockpit - there isn't one just a seat and a pilot figure.
I'll have to sort that out. Maybe add some sides to the chair and a head rest.

Brunch of champions there OT This looks like a half decent F-5 kit and I think it'll look good in those old Airfix Iranian markings.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Re: OT's Solo Blitz ***Started ***
It looks OK Shaun. Raised panel lines are not too bad and its lacking in interior details but shape wise its good and miles better than the PM kit or old Airfix job. Not much to show for the first hour.
Just cleaning up parts and improving the seat and IP. I think with a resin interior this could be a great kit of an early F-5.
As for entertainment I'm watching John Wick. Keanu Reaves at his monosyllabic best.

Re: OT's Solo Blitz ***Started ***
Sorry for the lack of updates chaps. getting distracted by household chores!
I got the fuselage together. Overall not too bad fit wise apart from the tail fin which has quite a gap.
The canopy had a nasty scratch in it so has been polished and dipped in klear. Its just drying now so hopefully that will be ready to paint soon.
One thing I was pleased to see in this kit is these air scoops.
They are a very prominent feature on the 'A' series F-5 but are missing from the Matchbox kit.
With those done I moved on to the air intakes which fitted without too much drama although they will need a little filler and blending in once the glue has set.
This is where I am up to now:
As you can see the wings are attached but will need some filler at the fuselage join but again nothing too bad considering this kit is the same age as my wife. Thats very old!
I still need to sort the interior. The seat has been modified and just needs the red head rest adding. This is another prominent feature of the F-5 series.
And better late than never I am doing some research:
