I might have a F-5 hanging around somewhere. Might not be much use for this Blitz but if you need a replacement I might be able to help.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

That's very kind of you Marky but looking at the broken part I think it can be fixed. Just not during this blitz.
I've nabbed a replacement U\C from another Has F-5 for now and have started painting that.

I have sprayed Revell Aquacolor Aluminium all over.

It needs another coat. I'm not sure this is as good as the Tamiya equivalent but I'll wait and see what it looks like after a coat of klear. It was a bugger to mix too.

The sidewinders are coming along - eating coats of Tamiya white.

Not much to see at the moment. Second coat of silver applied.

And keeping up the theme of musicians who passed last year:

Unmasking complete and not too bad. Touch up the black panel a bit, that's all.

Even that seam line down the spine is less pronounced in real life.

Next get her up on legs before applying a coat of Klear.
Then a short break whilst I cook Sunday dinner. No rest for the wicked

Looking good OT, and good to see you're keeping up the calorie intake!
Best wishes

Thanks guys. The diet starts tomorrow.

She is up on her pins and about to receive some decals.
I didn't allow the filler to set before I painted over it so some gaps have appeared.
Too late now.

Image

It just occurred to me that I don't have any placement instructions for the decals!
A quick google search found this so I think I can figure it out.

Image

This guys passing slipped under my radar.

RIP Colin Vearncombe

Wish me luck with the decals. I think they are the same age as me!

Thanks guys. I've had enough of tribute sounds - a lot of last years victims were my age!
So now I am cheering myself up with a little Metallica. (insert head banging smiley)

Decalling all done.

Really pleased with those. Now just the U\C doors & missiles to fit.
Rock on. 8-)

A lovely little kit in the end. I am sure you could do a really nice build under normal circumstances. Detail the interior and replace the pilot & missiles. Other than that it's definately a 1967 classic. :-D
I'll take some better pics for the completion gallery tomorrow in daylight.

Not a bad Blitzbau overall. Sunday lunch was great too, sorry I never took a photo but it was lamb with all the trimmings. Even SWMBO was impressed.
