Re: Migrant's flying coal scuttle
Thanks for looking in guys! It's Saturday 07:02 and FWIW, I typed this last night... and forgot to hit the 'submit' button.
__
Snack time; a welcome cup of coffee and a mince tart.
22:10 and this is where I'm leaving it for the night. It's pretty much re-scribed apart from a couple of small lines, and ready for primer. I did a bit of work on the trolley too, but ended up removing the rails on the sides. If I get time I might replace them with fine wire but the chances are I'll have to leave them off to meet the deadline.
' Night.
__
Anyway, it's morning, time for some quick brekkie and a bench tidy up before I commence. To the accompaniment of Tom Petty.

Coffee and a banana, breakfast of Chimpions. Bench is cleared and ready to continue. I think I may have a go at adding those rails back on to the trolley before I start painting.
Ludwig looks a little forlorn.

A very cool looking subject Mike and it looks so tiny.
Or is that a massive banana?

That is a very tidy looking bench Mike, the Lippisch would be lost in the detritus that is currently covering mine! Ludwig would be looking even more cheesed off if he had received the surgery required to squeeze him into the cockpit
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Thanks Jeff. Only for brush-painting; I can't get on with spraying Vallejo, so I stick to Tamiya and Gunze mostly for airbrushing.jssel wrote:Looks the business. Another fan of Vallejo I see.
That's a tiny banana by Canadian standards, OTOr is that a massive banana?
Thanks Shaun. My desk has had multiple tidy-ups during this Blitz, it's amazing how rapidly it gets messed up...That is a very tidy looking bench Mike, the Lippisch would be lost in the detritus that is currently covering mine! Currently 10:58 here in Calgary. A couple of updates.
By 0840 I had the model and trailer primed with Tamiya white. I have to keep reminding myself that this is a Blitzbau and there isn't really time to go back and sort out some of the wonky re-scribing, so I'll have to live with it.
0925: The trolley's yellow, and some random silver areas have been sprayed on the Lippisch with Alclad. There's a lot of masking to do, which is difficult when I'm trying to keep one eye on the City/Huddersfield FA Cup game which I recorded earlier.
No music playing at the moment 'cos the TV's on, but this was on my playlist earlier.

Re: Migrant's flying coal scuttle
Oh man that looks good. You are right Mike, there isn't the time to build to one's usual standards, it's simply a case of meeting the time challenge and getting the thing done!
Way back in 1998 Mrs W and I had a really great holiday in Canada, starting on the west coast in Montreal and ending up in Vancouver. We also visited Calgary and, if my memory serves me right, there is a tower there with a restaurant that we visited, or am I mixing it up with the CN Tower in Toronto that we also went up, although I do remember the glass floor at the latter that looks down to tiny cars and people, that tower is so high! It's so long ago that my memory is failing me!

You are so right about building standards Mike. By some twisted logic doing the best you can during the Blitz makes me a better modeller in real time.

Re: Migrant's flying coal scuttle
Thanks guys. More progress. All the NMF areas were masked off and an initial coat of Gunze cream colour airbrushed.
By 1330 the woodgrain effect was virtually done. I'd normally use oils for this but they take days to dry, so I've used Vallejo acrylics thinned with their Glaze Medium, which allows layering effects and dries fairly quickly, especially when aided by a warm hair-dryer. I'm going to have a quick bite then carry on, there's still a frightening amount to do...

That wood effect is superb!
Best wishes

Excellent wood effect.
Two questions.
1. Smooth or chunky peanut butter?
2. Do you have jam/ jello with your peanut butter?

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

I don't want to know the answer to question 2; either will make me honk

Thanks Splash. 1) Smooth 2) Jello would be weird. Jam's acceptable, but I just had the PB neat on this occasion.splash wrote:Excellent wood effect.

Well, I scraped over the finish line with a few minutes to spare. I may go back and neaten up my bodged, hand-brushed canopy frames. Unfortunately the clear packing tape that I used repelled the water-based paint so I had to go over it multiple times until it stuck, so it's pretty ragged. I don't know whether to add some simple decals (swastikas, crosses, etc.); it's unlikely the unpainted prototype would have had them but it might look cool. The colour scheme was
So that's it, another Blitzbau completed and the PM Lippisch removed from my stash (thanks again Greg for the kit, it was great fun). After the last frantic couple of hours, I need a beer.
