Paul's Matchbox Trio **DNF**

Post by PaulBradley »

Courtesy of John (Many thanks!!), I'll be doing these:

I had intended to use this GB to build some models for the Telford display; unfortunately, I found out too late that neither of these kits was available in 1976, and I don't have any in my stash that were! But that's OK - I have Airfix and Frog models I'll contribute to that display, and I'll have fun building these! 8-)

Correct - there are two tanks in the second box, part of a short series that Matchbox did that featured a pair of complementary vehicles in one box.

Well, I was hoping to get a lot done on these this weekend, but fate had other plans! Yesterday, I unexpectedly went to a dog show to do photos. Today, I made a start, but the plastic of the Renault didn't want to behave - it seems to be resistant to glues..... I'll try again tomorrow....

I did get the wings of the Wellesley glued together with no issues, and the nose section - which also didn't cooperate with glue. Strange day.

Well, I'm in one of those periods where I don't agree with modeling and modeling doesn't seem to agree with me. Just not enjoying the process at the moment. I had thought these kits would be fun, but I'm just finding them frustrating, in their lack of detail and their indifferent fit. I also managed to lose the turret top of the FT - it just disappeared after I glued the cupola on it. Puzzling.

Then, in an effort to correct a warp in the starboard wing of the Wellesley, it cracked along a flow line......

Anyway, sprue shots:

At least the Char B1 is coming along.

Unless I can find the turret top, the FT is not going to be completed.

All is not well at the moment then Paul, sorry to hear that but when it's like that it just is and it can be a struggle to rekindle the enthusiasm. If the turret top is not in your turn ups check your slippers, I once thought I'd lost a part for good and when I went to bed, there it appeared on the bedroom carpet after falling out of my slippers

Yes, and my kipper tie.... :ha: ....and my slippers..... :ha: :ha:

I presume the carpet monster has eaten it. Searched everywhere - my den isn't that big, for crying out loud! I'm wondering of one of the dogs got a hold of it - they often scout the floor in my den for crumbs, though I never eat in there.
