Looking good David! The new tool kit wasn't without it issues, but it can't be too bad as I've just picked up another.

I've never built the Matchbox Gnat, only the old tool Airfix version and looking at the photos the MB product does look to be the nicer of the two.

Argh! I was trying to be clever using a needle as the nose probe and I just split the fuselage seam under the nose!!!

Panic over. The fuselage is back together. I like to replace plastic pitots with needles or pins as they are more robust. She's now heading to the paint shop for her LAG wings.

Getting there. The grey is on and then masked and then the white is on and then masked and now it's time for the red. I have to say, I don't enjoy masking much.

I am building her as XP533 in these markings:

Here's the decals I have made for her:

The 4FTS fin badge is scaled down from one for a Hawk on an old Modeldecal sheet.

Oh man, masking, what fun  Keep at it David and all being well the scheme will turn out fine. Great work with the decals you have made.

That looks just grand
Doing schemes like this really scare me
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Great work David, that is not an easy scheme to mask.

Thanks, guys.

Can anyone help out this poor old colourblind modeller and suggest colours for the two blade antennas - the one under the fuselage and the rear on on the spine, please?

Thanks

Alas I'm of no real help to you David as my own colour vision is less than reliable  I usually ask the wife as colour blindness is virtually unheard of in women. Someone with working rods and cones or whatever it is that causes us the problem will no doubt come along shortly to help you out.

Not sure if they're the ones you mean but the top one looks black at the top and a little of white or grey at the bottom. The underside one looks like a pitot tube so might be black at the lower end and white at the top. Maybe.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Thanks. I'll see what I can do to replicate the look of them. Meanwhile a decal issue:
