Sign-up and Chat

Post by JohnRatzenberger »

This is a GB for the often unsung heroes -- the cargo-hauling air, land, or sea vehicles that keep the world economy moving and are essential to the military also. Any kit, any scale ....

This GB started from a thread [url=http://www.uamf.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=14087]here last year sometime and even a prior one that I cannot find -- no matter the important stuff is here.

The GB runs from 17th February to 31st March and your host is Old_Tonto who will fill in any other info. Thanks to OT for hanging in there with this one.

Thanks for setting this up John and yes it seems like ages since the idea was first raised. When I buy kits for my ongoing collections (East German & South African) I always buy transport types with the best intentions of building them but apart from a couple of DC-3 examples I don't think I have ever done one. Something sexier always makes its way to the top of the build pile so this GB should help me get over that stumbling block. If I make good progress on the AN-14 I have a C-160 taking up stash space.

Am I correct in thinking that we have never done a transport based GB before?

Well technically No, we have not. We have had GBs for Military Support Vehicles, a couple DC-3/C-47 builds, and several civil/airliner GB's but this will be the broadest in scope.

So far it has shown a great response as to both the kits and the subjects thereof -- I hope it draws more participants and lots of kibitzers.

Would Military Helicopters be acceptable? Types like the Puma or Wessex?

What about things the the D.H. Beaver, Islander or Dornier Skyservant?

I'm just checking if the Airfix Jetstream is okay as an entry. I was aiming to build it in its original official scheme as the USAF C-10. I know it's technically a WHIF but it's an official WHIF! If not I do have other options.

Yes any of those would be perfect. As long as they haul cargo, people included.

Apologies for my non participation after initial agreement. In-laws, broken bones, daily hospital visits, and associated commitments at the moment. Hope to be back shortly.
