Stumbling at the finish, actually a lap early -- too many interruptions. Finally got a coat of Future on so I can do decals but that wo't happen until Thursday then after they have set I'll want to dullcoat the whole thing, that'll be Friday ....

Then I've got a few bits to put on and all the railings ... which I probably cannot start until Saturday.

Sounds like a well planned operation John. I can't wait to see her finished.

Getting there ...

Decals on, such that I could figure out. The band on the stack is in two pieces but won't fully wrap around, something I didn't realize until after or I would have painted a yellow band on and faked it. As it is, I'll not match the decal color, so I'll just leave a gap at the back and a tiny one up front.

Masts & poles are on, anchors are on, various radars, etc, up on the pilot house roof are on, boat davits are on, midships traveling crane is on. All these bits are small and poorly described, if at all, in the instructions .... fun afternoon. I identified what I thought were the two anchors but lost one so I made another out of strip, and glued them on, then realized they weren't the anchors (which I guess were missing) but the support legs for the crane so I got to make two more. The stuff on the pilot house roof is just guesswork.

All that is left are the two boats and the couple thousand feet of railing .... and a dullcoat somewhere in there ... and maybe an effort to make the windows look like glass again ....

Getting there ...

This looks fantastic John, and a real tribute in the making to those who were lost.

I'm very impressed with this build John, its fighting you all the way but looks terrific.

A really great tribute to the crew. Well done.
As you are so close to completion how about an extension until the end of the weekend?

Wishful thinking, but thank you, it would be appreciated.
Everything but the railings will be done today.

I will have to DNF.

I got the 2 lifeboats on (incorrectly, but on), rigging for the mast and "bowsprit", and the main deck railings on. This latter did not go well due to the afore-mentioned irregularities in the hull and some sloppy super-gluing.

Image

What is left is to make an effort to neaten up the deck railings, hide the glue (paint), and then put rails on the pilot and cabin decks. Might take the boats off and try again.

My time is very limited through Wednesday but I would hope to get all this sorted by next weekend and I'll do a closing up in the Ships forum.
