Splashes Locomotive.
When I came across these (you get two in the box) I thought they looked good, being originally Russian they have that agricultural purposeful look about them.
On opening the box you get two large identical bags of plastic and the option to make two different versions in three different colour schemes.
I'm contemplating messing around with electronics and adding some lights but this will be subject to seeing what space I have to play with once I start.

I do like your adventurous spirit, Splash. I'm thinking this will be a very 'different' build.

I still have three boxed Kitmaster OO German coaches in my stash that are the right scale that could be used.Sir T wrote:Those look like interesting trains Alan - Do you have any rolling stock for them?
But not being a train buff I don't know if they are suitable. I have a feeling that a more suitable load would be wagons.

Re: Splashes Locomotive.
Splash, aren't these originally Russian locos produced for East Germany in the 70'2 - 80's ? Probably still in post-unification service.
The Kitmaster coaches you have might look a bit odd, both in time and place ? Not sure of their specifics. We won't worry about it, I'm sure.

I think you are right, most of the images I have seen show the engines just pulling cargo not people.jRatz wrote:Splash, aren't these originally Russian locos produced for East Germany in the 70'2 - 80's ? Probably still in post-unification service.

I like the orange and grey colours as it looks more modern, so the old Kitmaster kits have been returned to the stash for another day.

Nice of them to give you a section of track to display it on too.

Re: Splashes Locomotive.
Revell has added nice detail inside the engine bay with its large Diesel engine and the electrical control panels, unfortunately hardly any of it can be seen once the side a top panels are added.
I'm still contemplating adding lighting to illuminate the two drivers cabins, engine room & running lights subject to finding space for the lights and gubbings

That's a heck of a lot of detail to put inside a virtually sealed tin can!
Best wishes

That looks pretty cool. Perhaps the coachwork could be removable so we can see all that nice detail.

Re: Splashes Locomotive.
My first thought was to leave the engine out and use it as low loader load either behind a Lorry or train.iggie wrote:That's a heck of a lot of detail to put inside a virtually sealed tin can!
I could make a good engine change diorama with the roof off and a crane.iggie wrote:That's a heck of a lot of detail to put inside a virtually sealed tin can!
