I think they are just the gun bases; I'm sure I saw something being stuck on top of them in the instructions!jRatz wrote:Tell me those aren't molded in 20mm in those tubs

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

I hope so, but that brings up the question of what base looks like that Can you imagine having to step over them while rapidly tracking an aircraft ?

Fair point!jRatz wrote:I hope so, but that brings up the question of what base looks like that Can you imagine having to step over them while rapidly tracking an aircraft ?
To be honest though, I've had enough of hacking plastic for now, so they are going to stay
Best wishes

Re: iggie's transport of delight (USS Montrose)
So this is where I got to last night; the various layers of superstructure are now seated one atop the other and glued into place. The bridge wing ends have been removed from their attached railings and rafts and fixed; the plastic railings will be replaced with (yet more ) PE and the rafts then fitted later

That looks absolutely spiffing. You'd never have thought that it started off as a right old clunker.
Maybe we should have a clunker GB. Nothing less than 40 years old. Kits, not participants, obviously.

Re: iggie's transport of delight (USS Montrose)
Cheers guys! I must admit I'm enjoying this, even if progress seems to be slow as everything takes a while with the PE.
The enjoyment is good considering the number of 1/350th ships (with PE) I have in the stash
I like the idea of a clunkers GB

The clunkers build definitely appeals to me too.
Iggie, it's amazing the difference you have made to that ship.

Thanks David; the kit itself isn't too bad although there are a lot of pin marks on the decks; I'm leaving them in place frankly and pretending they are access coversdwomby wrote:The clunkers build definitely appeals to me too.

This kit might be a bit of an old banger but it's polished up well with some PE Iggie - a few railings on a ship model make all the difference!
