Thanks chaps!. A second coat of Hum 87 is on and she looks good in it so no camo planned at present! . Still have to paint the underside and add the props. Really want some pallets going out the back, will have to get to work on those soon.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Underside is also painted now. She's one solid block of grey/Hum 87 at the moment. Have the nose cone and the wing leading edges to do in black but might still have to add some variation.

Anyone guess what happened to the exposed end of the refuelling probe?...

Tried some variation, added some pre-shading. After painting. . Should call it pre-post shading!. Need to go over it again to repaint the Hum 87, which I don't think I have anymore of  . Still, an order to someone should sort that!.

As far as construction goes, only the interior. It's fine in itself but it's a tight fit inside the fuselage halves. Pus there are top and bottom sections of the outer shell to fit. I would not make the interior separate and then add the outer as the instructions say but attach each interior side to it's respective outer side. Then I would put the fuselage together and add the inner top and bottom pars. This would allow you to make them a bit better fit than they are, both to the interior sides and with the outer top and bottom parts when they go on. Phew!. Other than that it's a good kit.

Went mad this week and fished out my airbrush!!!. Granted it's only Humbrol's basic offering but it's good to use and well within my expertise level!!. Thought that the panel lines on the C160 needed tidying up but this just made her look messy. Knowing a hairy stick would obliterate all my hard work making wavy lines (!!), I got the airbrush out. The pot was filled with 1/4 paint and 3/4 thinners (well white spirit, it's all I had at the time!), I think it came out really well, just enough to take the sharpness off of the panel lines but not too much that they disappeared.
Example of lines in need of adjustment...

Hopefully the above gives an idea of the result, will get to better pics soon... Oh and following an idea, I think from Rob, I've started work on three pallets to be dropped out of the rear door. One will be in the hold, one will be just off of the ramp and the third will be airborne, hopefully with the parachute mostly deployed.

That paint job looks very nice Marky, pre-shading is not something I've managed to do yet with my airbrush so well done you.
I look forward to seeing your pallets being deployed, should be good.

Thanks OT. The pallets are coming on nicely which is good and worrying!!. The pre-shading lines were actually hand painted which is why they needed tidying up. The airbrushing really helped though, and even though I've only got a basic airbrush it's really good for finishes that are not a hairy sticks realm (thinner, finer coats etc). I have to make the parachutes for two of the pallets although to be difficult only one is anywhere near deployed fully. I have miles of wire that I got from my school job which I am using as straps for the pallets and can use for parachutes wires/lines. Not sure what to make the actual 'chutes out of, material at hand is limited.

Some progress on the Transall and the cargo...
The picture I am basing them on as well as the final display look of the model etc...

(NOTE: both pics are from a piece of artwork showing the C.160 dropping three pallets. The picture is from Airplane magazine and is only used here to show what I am going for).

Finished!!. I've been light with the decals, and by that I mean 12. I have conveniently 'lost' all of the rest including tons of little stencils!!.

Hopefully you can see pallet #3 in the cargo hold ready to be pushed out the back...
Image
Image
And hopefully this passes muster. I have never made a parachute or the lines to attach it to something before so the canopy is a bit dodgy but it will do for now....
Image

The second pallet will be on the ramp with the chute partially deployed, the one above will be hung up below and obviously behind the C.160. I couldn't find my prop blurs so it's hovering!!!.
