Marky's Transall C.160 ***FINISHED***
Marky's Transall C.160 ***FINISHED***
I shall be attempting this kit, I've always liked the look of the C.160 (it's not the C.160 Transall as you may know, it's the Transall C.160!!!!). It also seems to be very underrated and has given good service to the French and German Air Forces.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Great choice. Don't see many of them built and, you're right, they have served long and well.

Nice choice nate.
I was going to try doing mine but instead opted for the C-27 Spartan.

Re: Marky's Transall C.160
Thanks, it is a decent size in 1/72 although I have a possible problem in that the tow options, not surprisingly, are French and German. I could get away with a French marked aircraft when it was the Mirage IV. It's easy to hide!!. But the C.160 won't hide anywhere!!. The real problem is that the German version is their electronic warfare type one, not sure if it still qualifies in this GB?.

What's your issue with French aircraft? I smell a story there...MarkyM607 wrote:I could get away with a French marked aircraft when it was the Mirage IV. It's easy to hide!!. But the C.160 won't hide anywhere!!.

Well. They're French!!. As an English person it would be unforgivable to do a French anything!! .rob_van_riel wrote:What's your issue with French aircraft? Seriously, I don't have a problem with the French, apart from the usual historical stuff. Besides, I am a big fan of the Mirage IV and I do like the 2000. Plus I did a FN Crusader slamming onto the deck of Foch so just the usual England-France banter really.

I see your point. Still, compared to messing with other people's computers, not to mention being German (some traditional grudges here as well ), I'd consider that the lesser sin.MarkyM607 wrote:Well. They're French!!.

Nice choice! Always liked the c.160. Got the standard version of this in the stash so I might find your build thread useful.

Re: Marky's Transall C.160
Great choice but not one i'd chance for a group build. The interior is a kit in itself. Watch out for the decals in the load area, i think they don't mention them until stage 60 something. By that time its all fastened up. I have one stashed to do in the German markings. Where I'll put it is another matter.

Re: Marky's Transall C.160
A bold choice young man. I have one in my stash to build as a South African version. It is very big!
I wouldn't worry too much about the interior, just close it up.
Good luck with this one and hopefully you can inspire me to build mine.

Thanks OT, no pressure then!! . You're right she is big, no 'Mini-Hercules' about her in my opinion. You may be right about the interior, but it seems to have a lot of detail, it seems a pity to shut it all away but she may well have to be wheels up and hanging from the ceiling so your way seems best!!. I already have a headache trying to work out where to put the Airfix Victor I'm doing as that is wheels down!!.Old_Tonto wrote:A bold choice young man. On a side note, am I brave enough to tackle this one as well.....
No experience of Roden kits so not sure if I should just build this one on my own time so to speak..

You could leave the ramp open, and put some figures and airdrop crates in the back..MarkyM607 wrote:You may be right about the interior, but it seems to have a lot of detail, it seems a pity to shut it all away but she may well have to be wheels up and hanging from the ceiling so your way seems best!!.

Wall mounted with a picture frame around it, that's an idea.MarkyM607 wrote:Thanks OT, no pressure then!! . You're right she is big, no 'Mini-Hercules' about her in my opinion. I would leave the Roden kit for when you have a spare year or so.

Another interesting idea, although I'm fancying the para-drop idea, might have to leave making the pallets and parachutes until after the build though!!.Old_Tonto wrote:Wall mounted with a picture frame around it, that's an idea.MarkyM607 wrote:Thanks OT, no pressure then!! .
