Marky's Transall C.160 ***FINISHED***
Re: Marky's Transall C.160
Oh yes, a couple of pics to show progress. Cockpit went together quickly despite the fiddly nature of the seats..
No crew with this one so the Halifax crew have been reassigned, I'm putting the Halifax with wheels down in the bomber display in my wardrobe-now display area...
BTW lots of plastic..

Re: Marky's Transall C.160
It does have a lot of parts but I understand the fit is very good.
I got mine on the basis that it would be smaller than a Hercules, what with it only having two engines.
Turns out that is's only 4 foot shorter.
Another case of buy first and research later.

Re: Marky's Transall C.160
I think, looking at the kit that it has a smaller cargo section and more tail than a Herc. But she's still big as you say and two engines doesn't mean smaller as more funnels meant bigger in ships. I'm putting the interior together as far as the structure is concerned, details can and are being left off!!.Old_Tonto wrote:It does have a lot of parts but I understand the fit is very good.

Re: Marky's Transall C.160
Updates.. OT may have been right (okay he was). He said forget the interior and close up the sides. The interior is indeed very sung a fit, so much so that the outer fuselage struggles to hold it all in!!. I've beaten it into a submissive 'Okay I'll sit like this' state but next time (if there is one), I would attach the inner sides to their respective outer sides and put the top and floor of the interior in after the sides have been closed up.
From what I can see comparing the wing to the C-130 I build last year, there doesn't seem to be much difference!!.

That certainly looks to be a big wing!
Best wishes

Nice one, that is coming on very well Mark. The Transall certainly is a biggie and is one of those models that I would have to build in 1/144th in order for it to stand a chance of fitting into any of my display cabinets.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Re: Marky's Transall C.160
Thanks!, I wasn't sure for a moment if I'd got it wrong and my Herc was 1/144th but I think it is 72nd (it's the Airfix kit). The size is also why it's going on the ceiling, or hanging from it anyway!!.ShaunW wrote:Nice one, that is coming on very well Mark. As for space there was a 1/100th scale version which is slightly more manageable. Oh and the 1/220th one which is very manageable and quite a good size for the scale. Both are Revell I think.
It's blooming massive considering it's only a twin engine aircraft!!. The kit is even more difficult to manage now the wing is on!.iggie wrote:That certainly looks to be a big wing!

That Spit does put things into perspective - the Transall is a proper big twin, make no mistake!

Re: Marky's Transall C.160
Quick update. There are loads of tiny aerials, antennae and so on that I just can handle right now, literally and figuratively. Most will not bee seen unless you're close up!!. Many of them are not visible or find-able on pics of real aircraft. Paint next and hopefully some pallets to drop out of the back. I haven't made these yet, nor do I have prop blurs big enough for C.160 props but hey-ho!!.

Nice looking Transall mate!
Re: Marky's Transall C.160
Thanks!, she has a coat of Humbrol 87 on now. must be the current scheme, no camo!. I think it needs a second coat. If I don't like the colour I might add camo!.Maverick231 wrote:Nice looking Transall mate!
