The GB covers any aircraft which flew between January 1, 1950 and December 31, 1959. The subjects must wear marking from that period and can be any aircraft (civil and military) or helicopter from that period and any country. Also, any kit, any scale.

The GB runs from Feb 25th to Apr 2nd; your GBL is Chuck Finley who will fill in any other info.

As moderator and instigator of this build, it is only appropriate that I jump in with three builds with a Air Defense Command theme. My first three builds will be 1) Lockheed F-94B Yak Killer from Korea in 1953, 2) Lockheed F-94C Starfire prototype, and 3) Northrop F-89H Scorpion.

I'm in with either an
F84 Thunderstreak (If I can find Belgian No.1 Sqn decals)
Vampire FB5 (If I can find RAF markings - no instructions or decals in bag)
A-4 Skyhawk (if I can make some tartan tail fin decals)

Probably the Vampire to continue my 6 squadron line up

I have an F-84G Thunderjet kit earmarked for this. I will get some pics taken and start a thread soon.

Tell me about it. I have a Handley Page Harrow for the cargo/transport build, SB2C-1 Helldiver in the Matchbox build, and now F-94B, F-94C, and F-89H for this build. All the while, I am moderating this build and writing IEPs for school. (I teach social studies). And, oh look, The Spanish Inquisition. I wasn't expecting them. :P

I have an Airfix Bloodhound Guided Missile. As the Bloodhound entered service in 1958 and flies would it be acceptable for this GB?

I will not be offended if the answer is no.

I'm going to be building it soon anyway before my Valiant ready for a trio display at SMW17and what better way of doing it as part of a GB.

Yes, considering it's front line service was primarily in the 1950s. Pavla makes a very nice cockpit set and Spectre Resins makes a nice Mk.6 Nuclear device that was the more common load for the bomber.

According to the pilots I talked to, the B-47 almost always flew with a nuclear bomb. The conventional load-out in the Hasegawa kit was rarely, if ever, carried by operational birds.

The key word is aircraft. So I would have to say no.

I did ask in the original thread but my post never got an answer. I just thought that it would add interest and encourage a few more to join in. I'd have gone for a triple build (aircraft, tank, submarine)

Anyhow, I'll be building Italeri's 1/48th T-6G Texan in markings from the Algerian War.
