Chuck's ADC build #2: Lockheed F-94C Starfire in 1/72 *Fini

Post by Chuck Finley »

Emhar's F-94C Starfire (early) in 1/72 scale will be my second build. The kit has been sitting in the stash since it was released in the mid 1990s and this build is as good an excuse as any for building.

Not a type I've seen before - should be good though.

I built Emhar's Fury last year and enjoyed it.
Stuart Templeton I may not be good but I'm slow...

Another cool choice Chuck. I have never built a Emhar kit, I usually associate them with AFV kits.
Will watch with interest.

I know what you mean. Their F3H Demon and FJ-4B Fury occupy honored places on the shelves. Kit's a little basic but where are you going to find a F-94C in 1/72?

Their aircraft are basic and remind me somewhat of the old Matchbox kits. That said, there are aftermarket sets that really dress them up nice.

I had planned on completing the basic build tonight after getting the F-94B together. However, the cockpit detail is just too unacceptable. The cockpit instruments are flat with no details and to make matters worse, Emhar did not provide any decals for the cockpit. I found a True-Detail cockpit set for the F-94C that has new ejection seats and more importantly, replacement instrument panels! Until the set comes in, this build is at a hold point.

I just got in the True Details cockpit and it is one big improvement over the kit parts.

Basic build finished. I'll wait until Monday to fit the canopy after the CA has completely cured.

The Emhar kit makes a decent F-94C but you need a True Details cockpit replacement to bring out the model. Also, the kit's national insignia do not look right and were replaced with those from an old Superscale sheet.
