OT's Thunderjet *** Finished ***
My victim for this GB is this Academy F-84G Thunderjet in 1/72 scale.
And just to be a bit different I will use these HDL decals to build an Imperial Iranian Air Force example.
I seem to be on an Iranian kick at the moment.

Haven't seen too many Iranian birds. Welcome to the build.
On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

Re: OT's Thunderjet
I have made a start painting the cockpit.
The falsh makes it look a bit bright but it is not.
Once I get the seat finished I can get the cockpit closed up and then things should start moving along a bit.

Re: OT's Thunderjet
Thanks Chuck. A bit more progress last night:
I have since installed cockpit into the fuselage and added seat harness. Once I get some weight in the nose I can close up the fuselage and crack on with the major construction.

Re: OT's Thunderjet
Finally got the weight added to the nose and closed up the fuselage.
No filler required so far although the wing roots may need a touch. Hope to get the rest of the main assembly done this weekend.
Lovely kit so far, on a par with the Tamiya kit.

Re: OT's Thunderjet
It really is Marek. Easily as good as the Tamiya example and can be made into an F-84E as well.Marek wrote:nice progress. this looks like a good kit indeed.

Re: OT's Thunderjet
Lovely work on the pit O.T. Academy have puts some nice detail in there. You may have better luck with those decals as I'd heard the oob ones of that era take some sticking.

Re: OT's Thunderjet
She is starting to come together now.
Next I need to get the front canopy attached then I have a cunning plan to use the spare rear canopy (for the 'E' option) to cover the cockpit whilst I paint the whole thing silver. More to follow.

Re: OT's Thunderjet
Got some paint on.
That is two coats of Tamiya X-11 Chrome Silver. I'm comparing it to the Revell Aquacolor metallics and I think the Revell paint gave better coverage although the finish was duller. I'll see how it looks after a couple of klear coats then I may paint a few panels differing shades just to break it up a bit.

Looking good OT. I like the way you've brought out the detail in the cockpit
