The bag was unpacked and the sprues washed.
To begin I pre-painted and then assembled the cockpit and followed that by joining together the fuselage halves and also the basic wing halves.

Nice choice of subject. I like the post War Spanish schemes. Look forward to seeing some progress. How has the fit been so far??

Thanks iggie, Daren, gmg, Gadfly. The fit has been very good so far Gadfly apart from the canopy which was slightly too long and needed a little careful adjustment to properly fit onto the fuselage, I'll post a catchup post tomorrow.

Good to hear David.
Special Hobby kits can be a bit variable at times so good to know this one is ok...

The basic airframe was assembled ready for painting, because the detail is so fine on this model I will airbrush the model rather than use the hairy stick.
Of the three choices supplied on the kit decal sheet I picked the blue machine '71 + 11' formally based at Tenerife and used in the 1958 Ifni War. This blue is an oddity as it was apparently a Peugeot automotive colour, exactly which Peugeot colour this was is not clear and googling for images of these cars from that period did not really help- in the end I compared the colours I had in stock to images of the aircraft marked as '71 + 9' at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo in the US along with a period image of one of these blue machines and picked Revell Aqua 56 Blue.
The airbrushed airframe ready for decals.

The decals came next, I was worried that the decals would allow the blue to show through or even worse turn the yellow green so I applied white roundels to prevent this from happening- as it turned out the kit roundels were fine when applied to the model and it was a waste of time but it is better to be safe than sorry as they say so no harm was done.

Looks very smart, David. I wish I had one of these kits to wash out the taste of that Pegasus one I built. Same a/c I believe but yours is more accurate.
