Yeah, right!ShaunW wrote:It's largely down to the dark art of getting the paint mix/air pressure ratio correct. In fact even at 1/32 it's tricky! (Or it is to me anyway!)

Looking great so far, and I agree with Shaun, mottling is a "dark art"

The G-2 is nearly done. I'm going to both of them as Knoke's aircraft. I'll just pretend he had a G-2 briefly before the G-6 featured in pics I've posted!.
The G-6 is not far away either. It's got a few more kill marks on it than the G-2..

Re: Marky's Heinz special
I found an Osprey book on Bf/Me109F/G/K aces at Model Kraft MK, but it was £13-99 and I was out of money!!!. The point is that it actually had a picture of Heinz Knoke's 109, in a different scheme to the one Daz kindly found for me. I will try and hunt it down and make another 109G at a later date.
Also found these at MK show...

Great progress with these Mark and I see you have developed a bit of a taste for the '109! The only one of those Hellers I have in the stash is the '109K and it looks to be a decent enough kit of the aircraft.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Re: Marky's Heinz special
Thanks Shaun. I do seem to have embraced the 109!!!. I've also got the Airfix 109K in their Aircraft of the Aces series so it will be interesting to perhaps build them side by side and compare the two. I've slowed up a bit on building these two but the G-2 had it's decals put on last night.ShaunW wrote:Great progress with these Mark and I see you have developed a bit of a taste for the '109! Re: Marky's Heinz special
Finished (Part One)
This is the G-2 variant, I've changed the number from the artwork Daz found. The G-6 will have that on. Hopefully if I can win the Osprey Bf109F/G/K book on ebay I can get the picture of Knoke's 109, at least what it says it was!!. That will be part three!. Part Two, the G-6 is nearly done, decals to do. The circular antennae behind the cockpit disappeared so I made a new one using some thin wire,. Not very visible here!.

Nice one Mark, that is a good looking build. The G-2 retains the nice smooth lines of the F series before all the bumps started to appear!

Re: Marky's Heinz special
Very nice Mark, and I agree about the earlier marks of 109s being more elegant than their later cousins
Best wishes

Re: Marky's Heinz special
Finished the second one a day late but here it is, with a number more correct re: the art work/pic Daz found me.
However, the Osprey Bf109F/G/K book shows this colour scheme for Knoke's aircraft and mentions several times that it was a G-1 not a G-6!.

Very smart, even if the scheme is in doubt it still looks good!

Mark, please get the glamour shots of #1 & #2 in the Completions gallery -- I'll hold off archiving for that.

Re: Marky's Heinz special
Thanks!. I had trouble getting the pics posted as it said they were too big, even though I loaded them up to post image at under the size requirements!. I'll try again in a minute.
Iggie, the doubt over the scheme just gives me an excuse to build another 109!!.
