Cheers shaun, this is something I do with all my directly controlled aircraft and it is something that kit manufacturers should include with their kits, most kits used to include separate elevators as a matter of course but now it is a rare feature.

Many but not all of the decals have been applied, the tail stripes were straight and would not conform to the taper of the fuselage and the wing walkway lines were a disaster and were also discarded- both were painted on, the model was then weathered and the last parts were fitted and a radio aerial was attached to complete the model. as I built this kit the lack of any references for it and the vague instructions have been a hindrance, when I was halfway through painting this model I did find online a detailed set of drawings with some explanatory text so having saved the page I should be able to revisit this subject at a later date to better effect.

That looks a fine finish David and nice work painting the replacement walkway lines and fuselage bands
Best wishes

That has turned out very nicely indeed David and this version of the '109 is a good looking fighter IMHO. I agree, great save re the walkway lines and fuselage stripes, I've had tussles myself with both types of decal over the years!

That's a great looking build David!

Would you recommend the kit? It's a subject I fancy building myself at some point.
Stuart Templeton I may not be good but I'm slow...

Thanks Stuart, David. Stuart- yes I would recommend the kit but the instructions are rubbish.
Since finishing the model I have found this page which should help- http://galgot.free.fr/wordpress/?p=652;
