Gadfly's 109...

Post by Gadfly »

Righto.... I'm back after a sojourn into a far flung corner of the world...

My stash is teeming with 109's so I'm in decision mode currently. 1/32 or 1/48......

Amazingly, I've never built that one! Always wanted to, though.

Here we go.. Progress on the 109F...

I've pretty much built the airframe and added a few things here and there. The cockpit got some seat belts from foil and I chopped the seat down as thats more accurate for a F model than the kit offering.

I added a weld bead to the supercharger intake from stretched sprue and added a cannon barrel to the prop hub out of brass tube and also replaced the kit Pitot tube with brass tube. Fit has been pretty good with only a bit of dissolved putty being needed on the lower wing seams.

I also did a bit of mild re-scribing and riveted the upper wings..

A bit of paint and a few decals...

Im using the kit decals and a kit scheme...

Image

Paint is gunze lacquers and I trimmed most of the carrier film off of the decals they are on top of a layer of X-22 to give a gloss coat...

I need to add in the Afrika motif and thew stencils..

Cheers

Very nicely done GF, that is a great looking F. This old Airfix effort is actually not a bad one IMHO.
