This is a creative juices GB based on books and comics - the subject could be factual or fictional e.g. (s)
Factual
any of Douglas Baders aircraft from 'Reach for the sky';
any aircraft, vehicle, tank etc. used by the subject of a biography or history E.G Band of brothers
any historical or popular culture figure.
Fictional
Tintin;
Biggles;
James Bond vehicles, aircraft or characters;
Characters or aircraft from 'Piece of cake' or any other Derek Robinson book;
KG200;
Game of thrones;
War & peace, Sharpe or similar
Victor, Warlord, Commando comics.

The CD GB was a cool way to display models, and there could be extra kudos for incorporating the subject into the cover of the book or comic. (Not necessarily the actual book or comic, with Google and a home printer a copy could be made for backdrop purposes)

This GB started from a thread here.

The GB runs from April 22nd to June 4th; your GBL, cheerleader, and all-around good example is PurpleThistle who will fill in any other info.

I'm in, I have one subject out of a Commando comic, but can't start until next week.

Migrant had asked about the aircraft in Tintin in the land of the Soviets earlier. I don't know if this photo of a diecast model of the plane from the Tintin Store helps, but at least it's another angle view.

http://thetintinshop.uk.com/shop/the-fi ... he-soviets;

The models section of the official Tintin site has some very tempting subjects that I must resist as I already have FOUR projects in mind and none of them are the ones I had originally intended to do when I suggested this GB!

Hmmmmm! the Airfix 1/48 RAF groundcrew would lend themselves nicely to Tintin story figures along with a 1/43 Citroen 2CV or a Jeep from Destination Moon......STOPPIT!!!!!!....Resist!

I'll be up for this one with a brace of A6M2 Zeros from the book The Eternal Zero.

Luckily there is an actual kit for this subject!!!

I should be able to tell you in a couple of days John.....I've just ordered a copy of the book from EvilBay :-D

If your fancy has been tickled by the cover I can post images from the book to let you see what it looks like. The artwork inside was done by the same artist who did the cover, (not always the case with Commando comics) the excellent Juan Maria Jorge, so the illustrations will be top notch for detail.

Wow, I miss reading Commando books!

"Divided Aces" - based outside Edinburgh? There were a few airfields within a stone's throw of me!

I'm curious, but not committed - I think I have an AVRO autogiro in the stash but it's not showing on my spreadsheet, I'll have to check when I get home.

That would have been a no-brainer for me to do if I had seen it before I had my current crop lined up, The trouble with looking at old Commando covers is that there are just so many tempting subjects!
