Says it all - one of the best known aircraft of the Great War, not to mention the favored mount of Snoopy! Any kit, any scale, any markings.
GB runs 1 -30 June and your host is VickersVandal.

This is a single-type GB of the Sopwith Camel, arguably the most iconic allied fighter aircraft after the Spitfire, the Camel had a significant impact on the air war in the latter part of WW1. Flown by a number of aces including the renowned Biggles and Snoopy, it was also alleged to have brought down the Red Baron himself. The tricky dromedary was almost as much of a risk to its pilots as it was to the enemy.

Any kit, any scale, any variant, any markings.

This GB started from a thread here.

The GB runs from June 1st to 30th; your GBL is VickersVandal who will fill in any other info and also happily engage in discussions about who really brought down the Red Baron.

Thanks jratz! I'm lookingforward to this :)

Time to swing the prop, blip that Bentley (or Clerget) and take to the air - watch that right-hand spin though! ;)

I fail to see how that's relevant since Cedric Popkin never flew Camels :P :P

I'd forgotten completely about this. I'm actually away quite a lot soon but hope to take part.

I haven't built a Camel for decades (and that was the keil Kraft 1/72 kit) neither have I even considered building one for years and the stash is big enough to fall through the floor boards but I am weakening- despite trembling at the thought of rigging something so small (in 1/72 scale) I do sometimes build preserved aircraft and the 2F.1 Camel at IWM Lambeth and the F.1 Camel at Hendon look more and more interesting as subjects every time I think about this GB. Is there room for another builder here VV? I don't know which kits to pick but as I don't have a Camel in the stash the kits will have to be bought in anyway.

Absolutely, David! More than enough room. Please join in!
Do you have any EZ line? It may make the prospect of rigging less daunting

I do use EZ line VV, the Camel is an awfully small aeroplane though, still, it will be an interesting challenge.

Looking over my Edward 1/48 Profipack Camel F.1. Lots in that box to be sure. Wish Airfix had a 1/24 version.

This is true. I'm probably going to use through holes and invisible thread this time. EZ line has been getting me down on the last few builds to be honest.

Well, I can only really think of one Sopwith Camel in a film, so I'll have to see if I can do it....

From the film:

I used to love it when I was younger, and I have it on DVD. I've actually seen that Camel up close, too, and I believe it's still around!

Cool. Mine will be out of box using the kits decals.
