Assembly complete
Rigging done using the supplied nylon cord; it actually tensioned up quite well (apart from the bit I just noticed  ) but I'm not sure about it being black. I may still paint it gun metal grey.
One coat of varnish applied and we're ready for decals tomorrow hopefully.

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Looks good. I painted my rigging a grey/metal sort of colour (can't remember which one at the moment). It did look better than black.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Oh great..... thanks for that, just when I was coming round to leaving it black!! :ha:

I suspect it will go grey before it is declared finished

Cheers Daren, although slightly less so now after the decals......this is where Kevan gets to say "I told you so, nyah nyah nyah".
Kevan Bailey wrote:Good choice. I did this one last summer; it's a really nice kit and the rigging's a doddle, but throw the decals away, right now. Horrible, made out of lino. Totally ruined a very enjoyable build.
The decals have not settled down well at all; sicker than a new 1st year boarder watching his parents drive off without him......
More softner going on this evening and some pressure from some sponge foam to push 'em into place hopefully
Best wishes

That's coming along very nicely. Not to want to be a pain, but I have to add to the chorus re rigging. The black looks very stark and makes the rigging stand out a lot more than it would on a real camel. If it were me I'd want to tone it down with a coat of Grey or gunmetal.

Thanks chaps, and the comments regarding the rigging are noted. :-D

However, the decals have ruined this one for me, and unless a miracle happens this evening then this will be a DNF ITB :frown:

I decided to paint the rigging gun-metal grey and it has now sagged worse than Nora Batty's stockings, and looks awful  :frown: :frown: . With this and the decals not settling well (or at all in the case of the top wing roundels) I'm pretty well cheesed off with the build and it is not going to feature anymore on my bench. I will salvage the prop for use on the other Academy Camel I have, and will use elastic for rigging and order some AM decals to avoid using the kit supplied ones.

So this one is going down as a DNF I'm afraid

Oh man, that's a real shame :(
I understand how you feel. No way of re-tensioning or re-rigging?

Not in my current mood.......

It's going into storage as it is; it might be re-visited at some time in the future but with a spare in stock, I think it is unlikely :???:
