Interior painted black. Cowling painted Humbrol 56

i've just worked it out! He's really a garden gnome but somebody's nicked his toadstool and fishing rod.

Whatever the pilot is doing, it requires both hands
Work continues. Painted the struts and prop with clear yellow. As the prop was a chunkier piece of wood I went over that with clear orange



Looks ok Painted the engine a grey colour and gave it a black wash, then dragged a HB pencil over the bolt heads and cooling vanes



My tin of Airfix M17 seems to have had enough. Even this thin coat has a lot of grittiness about it. I'll use Humbrol 163 Dark Green



My plan is to get the top of the bottom wing painted, the bottom of the top wing painted, the fuselage painted, then join the top and bottom wings to the struts, add rigging, finish painting, add cowling, guns and tail skid We'll see how that goes.

I've also painted the rudder and tailplanes in the underside colour, Humbrol 122, then I can add the decals to those parts. I prefer the Revell method of moulding the struts in pairs. I plan on using two part epoxy to try and get all eight struts aligned. Wish me luck

That paint job looks just like the one I got from the first coat of Tamiya 62. I just can't seem to get a decent brush coat out of anything these days.

Nice paint job on the prop there. Pity about the horrifying job Airfix did moulding it.

Should have taken a couple of pics before I got this far, but here are the first set of struts added. Getting all four at the right angle and in the right position took me about 30 minutes The top wing isn't fixed yet. There are still four more struts to add yet

I've got the tailplanes, rudder and fuselage decalled. The only painting left is the top of the top wing, and bottom of the lower wing. I'll do those after I've rigged and cleaned up the rigging holes

Looking pretty good on the wing alignment there. Did you loosely attach the struts to one wing first?

Good progress. Those look like some veteran paint pots!

Thanks guys. I used 2 part epoxy to fix the struts to the lower wing, then inverted the model and jiggled the struts into their positions using the paint tins to hold the wings in the right place….. hopefullly
I did the same with the last four struts today







I've also added the first two of the rigging wires. These just run straight through the fuselage, it means that with one piece of E-Z Line I can rig each side
I'll also get rid of the hairs and fluff that have become obvious in the pics
