He did the B-10 using the plastic packaging for a pen to do the extended canopy.
Rings a bell -- was that featured in a Journal article ?

I like the version with the canopy that stretches from the cockpit to the rear station but need to find the markings for it. Pretty sure I could dig up the dorito national markings the that rudder one is a pain to get the black consistant.

Don't think I will go with your drastic plan of buying another kit though.

Does anyone make resin replacement tires for this kit? Not too happy with the rubber tires.
Here's a grab of a long canopy in Dutch markings, but I don't know who makes a conversion kit.

Google Dutch Martin B-10 for starters.

The kit has both plastic and rubber tires, I'll probably use plastic, maybe sand 'em down a bit to flatten. Unaware of any aftermarket for this kit. I do need to dig up, or fake, a couple 'tweener .30 cal MG's -- my stash is full of Vickers & Lewid..

A 2nd kit isn't all that drastic -- it has 16 markings so I'll just build a 2nd one, maybe in OD/yellow. The price was more than reasonable -- from Williams Bros, the full kit is <$30, the full decal sheet 1/2 that == $15 for the 2nd kit. Turns out 'Chuck Finley' was right :)
As for aftermarket, I did invest in a couple of resin browning machine guns from Kora. The nose turret and rear gunner's positions look kinda empty without a .30cal.
On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

Don't think so. Know I took a pic of it at one of the meetings back when I ran the club site but can't find it now.

Thanks for that tip, I agree. I suppose I could scratch-up a couple, one at least - the nose needn't be more than barrel.
OTOH, I am accumulating a number of US 'tweener aircraft and a small stash of parts might be useful.

The Kora Brownings are FN Brownings as used by Dutch, Belgian, Yugoslav and Greek aircraft. So, they are not exactly .30cal AN-M2s as used by USAAF. However, in 1/72 scale, they are close enough and Hannants has them in stock.

I got the new release kit today so decal issue solved.

Things to note
-- it's gray plastic not blue/yellow.
-- no rubber tires.
-- instructions now have about 4 lead-in steps to correct problems -- too late for some of that.
-- interior color now calls for interior green, and bare metal only for earliest.
-- probably some other detail changes.

Sorry, been a bit distracted.

Got the new decals on the IPs and the IPs mounted into the right fuselage half.
Made one pass at matching/fitting up the two sides, think they are OK.
Futured all the glass.
Should be able to start fitting the glass from the inside, then button up the fuselage.

I had thought about trying to preserve the kit blue/yellow rather than paint, but I'm going to reserve judgement until I get further along. I don't have a good feeling about it.

Distractions are allowed....in fact they seem to be increasingly inevitable nowadays if my own experiences are anything to go by

Will look forward to seeing the progress shots when you are ready

I'll do some pix after I get the glass in but before I close it up - hopefully tomorrow.

I should get to work on the wings now.

Slowly, got fuselage closed, glass fell out. Filled seam, will work at this week. Have started wing.
Just not having fun but muddling along. It's all on me.

How did I get this far in a build (time-wise at least) without posting a single build picture -- for shame.

Anyway, here we are, far from a finish but still plodding.

Image

Fuselage closed up, wings closed up, ready to paint same.
The huge flaw on the wing on the rightside is mostly hidden by the fillet but I better check that again.

You can see that I will have an in-flight display, just don't look for crew.

Excellent! God to see this is still a live project!
The GB has been extended to 6th August so I sincerely hope that you'll be able to work your usual magic on this as I really want to see the end result!
Best wishes

I started fuselage paint today, my last bottle of Polyscale USAAC Light Blue 23.
I think it looks a bit greyish and will try another coat tomorrow.
Sigh ....
