Looking at the decals I found that the US insignia are badly off register so I have ordered a sheet of generic markings to replace them.

The replacement US insignia have arrived and all decals have been applied, the airframe has been matt varnished and the end is in sight.

The aerial was fitted next followed by the Glue 'N glaze windows, the model now only needed the last few touches to be complete.

Thanks iggie, although there is some info for the D-Day Mustang flights I couldn't find anything useful about this, I would assume that he had fighter cover as he had in WW2 but I have no idea what types were used.
