Beany's Blitz -Revell 1/32 Me262 A-1a **FINISHED**
Subject: Revell 1/32 Me262 A-1a "Swallow"
Time: 11:00 Tuesday 8th to 11:00 Wednesday 9th August 2017
The kit was purchased for £10.00 at Cosford Show this year as second hand and unstarted but lacking decals (a set are included in the box but I do not believe they are for a 262. In fact, I've posted in the Aviation section to try and find out what they are for!. Thus I have sourced an after-market set (see below).
Parts are already off the sprues as purchased and are bagged. I believe everything is there but haven't checked, but I have another of these that can act as a donor if necessary.
The aftermarket decals - I have gone for this scheme because it is the only one on the sheet that I have matching paint colours for, but is probably the one I would have chosen anyway.
Note to self - I must get some late war RLM colours.
I have started a build and paint order list. I will probably do the build in the shed while the temperatures are reasonable.
Looking forward to this already!
Cheers
Al.

Hi Al, That is a cool kit to build Migrant has a 262 he is selling on kijiji. Forgot brand....
Hard camo paint to do in 24 hours.
Can wait to see your build....you must have a air brush for a camo like that?
My choice is much easier that this one...looking for to your progress pictures and build notes....

Up at first Sparrow's fart this morning on this beautiful British summer's day...
... at least the shed is water-tight.
Not everyone is excited about my Blitzbau today as I am - he couldn't even be arsed to get up for his breakfast!
First job is to make some space on the worktop...
which means making some space elsewhere to move the stuff that is on the worktop!
There, that's a bit better. Two box sets and my favourite Spock's Beard CD - by my estimate that's over 24 hours of Prog Rock right there, so enough to keep me going!
Let's hope this Blitz get's finished in time and doesn't end up on the Pile of Shame
10:34 now - which will do for Second Breakfast as any good Hobbit will tell you. Then, Blitzbau begins at 11:00 - see you then

Re: Beany's Blitz - a Revell Classic, the 1/32 Me262 A-1a
First report: 11:00 to 12:00
Parts checked and all accounted for.
Pilot stuck together. Not seen in this photo, but Nacelle tops glued to lower wing section.
You can see the flash on the headrest - it gives a fair indication of the amount of flash to be cleaned up on this kit.
Seat, foot rest and control column glued to cockpit tub. engine halves glued and inlet cone and outlet(?) added.
Also, front wheel well added to fuselage.
Wing upper half being prepared. I often remove fitting pegs (the white circles on the wing here) on parts such as these because they cause more trouble than they are worth, sometimes making the parts stand proud and it is easier to remove them than fiddle about opening up the receiving holes IMHO.
All wheel halves glued. Upper wings glued to lower wing pieces.
Revell helpfully supply a stand to use at the back of the plane indicating that they know she will be a tail sitter. That won't do for me so I've added a car wheel weight and some Liquid Gravity, soaked in Roket Hot Superglue and held in place with Blu Tack until the glue dries. Any lose parts are shaken out because I don't want them rattling about inside the fuselage once it is closed up.
Fuselage halves closed, and that's the first hour gone!
Posting this then taking a bit of a break - back on the case about 13:00 BST.
Cheers

Good start Al, hopefully you've got enough weight in the fuselage you stop it tail sitting!
I have the new tool version to build one day, I'll be interested to see the build differences

Re: Beany's Blitz - a Revell Classic, the 1/32 Me262 A-1a
Back at it - wings added to fuselage - not a great fit - I shall be breaking out the putty a bit later I can see.
In fact, I may well have to get the new tool Revell Me262 and build that to get over the trauma of this one!
Out with the trusty old Aztec. Tamiya XF24 Dark Grey is what I am using for RLM66 here - because I have it and I like the colour - RLM66 is one of those mythical shades that looks different in every photo you see purporting to be it!
Lunch time now - microwave fish pie, mash and peas. No photo though, soz
