Hi Nigel

Thanks, you, i was just lucky. I use a clear coat to prevent slivering of the decals. Did not know a gloss paint will prevent this too.

I learned something new.

Yes after Micro sol dried was planning to seal with a matt cote. But i did not wait, just finished spraying a first coat of matt cote.

I also attached the landing gear/tail wheel and gel super glued the broken prop blade.

Unfortunately I add to much paint to canopy and it bleed bad. Then I cleaned of the paint with thinner and of course it hazed the glass. I applied

coat of pledge to see if it clears the haze off the canopy. I had trouble with one decal on the wing walkway which twisted and fold I did best i could to

straighten it out but did not get all the way.

I am going to use acrylics to paint canopy line in the future where possible so I can clean any mess with shapened spruce.

I just need to add canopy and a second matt coat and my build will be complete.

I started a 5:55 am I should be done by 12 - 12:30 pm.

The plane should be dry by 5:55 am tommorow.

I don't know if my build qualifies as a 24 hour Blitzbau build. With a hazy unpainted canopy and it flaws.

Image

I glued the canopy and add the final matt coat finishing this build at 11:37 pm.

Image

Maybe paint/glue/decal will not be set as yet.

I started at 5:55 am this morning and expect every thing to be cured/dried and set by 5:55 am tomorrow.

However I will not wake up again at such a awful early time to do any more work.

I am tired and if try this again i will try to plan better maybe write a build plan and plan date and time to do a another build.

This build was unplanned and unrehearsed with not much knowledge of what a Blitzbau is other than a 24 hour deadline.

Michael, I would call this a first rate Blitz your first time around. Well done. Hoping you will attempt another one moving forward.

Agreed, an excellent first Blitz. Don't worry about flaws and compromises, they're all part of the BB experience. :-D

An excellent build Michael, especially for your first and using enamels as well
Best wishes

I decide to take off the canopy. I might order another from airfix some time.

I think it is looks pretty good and when to together fairly well i think.

Here are all my aircraft so far

Image

For an older tooling this Corsair was and ok build. The two 109's are far better kits.

I may do a Zero a6m2b next but not a 24 hour build. Maybe a split two 12 hour build instead.

Or just for my workbench...and the practice

Well Thanks Jeff, Migrant and Iggie,

Thanks for kind words, I may find a new tooling model as my next subject for a Blitzbau? In my stash I have some planes that require "mottling" so they are out

of the running. Since I do not have a air brush and never attempt this type of camo. I do have a Zero with a single colour paint well the nose is black.

Thank Migrant, i am highly impressed with your build. Well done as usually!

Thanks Iggie, I could have used the gift set acrylics but I try them once and did not like the results.

So far I only have testor and humbrol enamel. As i am just starting out again i do not have an air brush or acrylic (other that the gift set paints).

After drying and it cured the gloss humbrol blue 15 has turn out great better than the shiny state it was in. A couple coat of matt has produce a

better result than i thought it would be or hoped.

For your first Blitzbau and only your 7th or 8th completion, I'm impressed. You should be able to get a replacement canopy from Airfix.

Good Morning Migrant, thanks also this kit is an older tooling with some issues.

Yes i can order some parts for my 109's too.

See you took a break from the Farman and S-3 to do a 24 build. Very impressive!

Are this two build coming along?

Well done on completing your first Blitz, especially as you used enamel paints, which always slow things down.

That's an excellent effort and one mighty fine looking Corsair!

You really nailed that overall blue scheme. It looks even better under more light.

Kudos from another Blitzbau newbie,

Thanks guys... yes with 12-24 dry time for enamels and only 24 hours to build it really makes it tight. I had to rush some of the build steps and paint early while the glue was still drying and setting.

Thanks The Great Auk, thank you kind words. Yes my post photo did not have much light to them! Also until the paint cures and flat matt coat brought down the shine and I am suprised how well the humbrol 15 blue turned in to smooth flat blue coat. I hand brushed and did one thick coat instead of two thinner coats for sake of time. I spend some time touch up here and there.

I glad how it turned out. Need to practice masking canopy and or use acrylics so I can scrap off the mess.

Hi The Great Auk,

You are doing a Blitzbau right now aren't you?

I think I saw your posts but the kit you are doing ?

And right now I am on my phone on a bumpy bus ride

So it hard search/find your build right now.

Cheers
