Hey why don't my "just bits of painted Tamiya tape" look that good!?

All those mugs of tea are making me feel thirsty too.

I am very impress with amount of work that you achieved!! it is going to look like a month build not a 24 hour build!

Add detail to cockpit, filling gaps, scribbling panel lines! If had the any of those skills it would take me months....

Thanks for looking/commenting :)

Dinner was a plate of roast chicken with brussel sprouts, pasta and a glass of Malbec.

This is the scheme I've decided to finish mine in. Obviously it's from the back of a KP kit box. Other than codes it's just standard Luftwaffe markings bit I like the split 02/black scheme.

First the Grau 02, which is Gunze Mr Color lacquer. It dries super-fast anyway, but I've been blasting the paint with a warm hair-dryer too to accelerate things.

Loads of masking later and the black was applied, having already sprayed and masked the yellow rudder and fuselage band. Unfortunately, as tends to happen when rushing, a tiny area got left unmasked on the fuselage side. Hopefully it'll be mostly covered by one of the codes...

And here's where things stand. I'm completely burnt out for the day, hopefully I'll have enough time tomorrow morning to apply decals etc. The model's gloss-coated and all the small parts are painted and ready to attach, but it'll be tight.

As the actress said to the Bishop

Great work on a blitzed kit. I'm sure I'm not the only one studying the pics to see if there are any tips to be had from what's on your bench. Must be a big jar of talent hiding at the back :)

Great progress Mike, and as always, a Master Class in over-achievement just to make the rest of us look bad... :ha: :ha:

Now you've guilted me into thinking I may have to put so actual effort into my Blitz today, rather than just throw it together as usual.
Seeing your yellow fuselage band has reminded me I need to do one which I hadn't thought about yet - I hate painting yellow. I may cheat and paint a strip of Tamiya tape and stick that on instead!

Looking forward to seeing yours finished.

Cheers
Al.

I'm on it Jeff, I'm on it.

First task was to apply an oil wash to the panel lines. Then, after a minor disaster, the decals were stuck on. The first Special Hobby Luftwaffe cross I applied simply stuck where it touched the fuselage, and my attempts to move it caused it to disintegrate. Ripped it off with masking tape and wasted valuable time looking for substitute decals. The only suitably sized markings came from an old ABT sheet, literally 40 or so years old, but amazingly they worked. A bit thick, but at least they're stuck on. I've also added the tailplane, nose thingy and the gun.

Now I need to wait for the decals to dry out a bit before a flat coat.

Finished, with a few minutes to spare. The home stretch is always the most fraught; I managed to spring one of my exhaust stubs into the void and had to rapidly make/paint another, the undercarriage was a pig to get symmetrical (and still isn't, quite) and the aerial wire predictably evaded my attempts to connect it to the mast. But, it's finally done. Biggest disappointment is the canopy, which is still clouded inside despite being glued on with Clearfix, but overall I'm fairly happy with it for a 24-hour build.

It looks great Mike, 24 hour blitz or not!
Best wishes
