The first and maybe not last contender for the Golden Oldie Build, a 1979 boxing of Hasegawa's Heinkel 51 which has moldered away for far too long in the deep stash.....I think I may have enough markings for a Condor Legion close support machine.

Good call re the decals. My Hasegawa Spitfire decals started to self destruct when placed in water.

I have always liked the look of the Heinkel 51 so will enjoy watching your build.

Thanks guys, I will do my best. Bought it years ago at a long closed comic book shop for dirt cheap, and it's time it got built.

I'm looking forward to seeing this build. I have the floatplane version in the stash some place.
All the best.

Yeah I have that one buried around here somewhere as well. I hope to start cutting plastic tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing this one built as I've just been watching a documentary about the Luftwaffe which had a clip showing Goering inspecting his pilots in front of lines of He.51s and I was surprised how big the actual aircraft is.

Sorry I haven't posted any pics as of yet, chaps. No batteries for that gluttonous camera of mine at present. Plus, while assembling the sparse cockpit area I managed unwittingly to get a dab of glue on the left fuselage half and now that needs to be filed and sanded out before I do anything else!

I built this kit once in the past (with some modification) and it'll be a treat to see how yours comes out.
Seconded on your wise thinking using replacement decals. I doubt you'll regret making that choice.

Well we shall see, as I believe the Condor Legion markings I have are in fact from this kit. Anyways, I have been away for a few days but am back at the bench tomorrow and hopefully will finally have pics soon of what work I have been doing to catch up with the rest of you!

Now that I am back at the Nick Cave, I have been able to cut plastic on the 51. Here's where we are presently.....
Just letting the wings settle before I do anything further.
