An act of Piracy with Airfix London Icons soldiers set

Pre-1980 boxings of any kit, but preferably hard to obtain -- something that would make a collector cringe to see built.

Ahoy matey, that be grand headway ye're making. A welcome sight it be, the sails of a fellow traveller into the uncharted waters of figure conversion.

Thanks everyone for your support and following my cobblings and antics with this. Please keep up the humour and especially the parrot jokes and quips. It helps make it all worthwhile.

This is now where we stand .... quite a long way to go, nothing of the coat or hat is as yet fixed and glued, it is all just cut parts with a tad of tape to help hold it together, so I can see how it fares.

I have learnt one thing: this really does bring home to me how good Purplethisle is at this figure stuff, especially when he makes it all seem so effortless. ;-)

Ahoy Matey, ye just be gettin' yer sea leg(s) with Long John. I'll wager ye'll be thinkin' what ye can convert the leftover bits to afore ye finish this one.

Compared to what you achieve, PT with going for "real" subjects, at least this one being fictional gives me a large comfort blanket which I definitely as a learner do need.

As for the leftover bits ... it is funny and worryingly true ... over dinner on Sunday I invited the assembled family who had watched me from a distance all afternoon making the coat... to now come up with ideas for what I could concoct from the selection of leftover original kit parts before them ...

And .. as for using ones imagination... in the eyes of my family, it already has been suggested that I am creating a one-legged town crier!
