Lancfan's Transatlantic Bomber

Pre-1980 boxings of any kit, but preferably hard to obtain -- something that would make a collector cringe to see built.

That’s looking nice.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Work has got in the way quite a lot of late and with the (extended) end in sight this is going to be very close, anyway , on with the build- The next step was to cement the upper wing sections together, the attachments are very vague so I used the lower wing as a jig with strips of masking tape separating the two wings to ensure that they did not get glued together, I then airbrushed the fuselage and the top surface of the lower wing in a mixed shade of cream.
Image

The engine pods and struts were next assembled and painted and the last rigging holes were drilled.
Image

The Vimy rudder and elevator cables ran outside the fuselage but were not represented on the kit, to represent these I use lengths of silver coloured stretched sprue.

And now the engines have been fitted.

I can but agree with Greg's assessment, David. That is a great looking build.

This is how the model looked at midnight yesterday- it did not make it and would have to be finished under Aviation modelling.

Postscript-
When attaching the upper wing to the model this afternoon I noticed that one engine support was mis-aligned, in trying to correct it the model disintegrated and fell out of my hands- this is the result, there will be no repair, but another model will be ordered to replace it and a second attempt will be made at a later date.

That is such a shame David. It doesn't look beyond repair though.

I would have to rob a Novo Vimy bomber kit to replace the broken parts and I want to build that Greg so a new kit it has to be, in fact I may decide to build both together.
