The broken drill bits are down to thin drills, hard, brittle plastic and solid wing mouldings.

Re: Lancfan's Transatlantic Bomber
The glue has dried, the tape has been removed and the seams cleaned up, a little filler was needed along the seams to even out a slight step along them and there were a few small, shallow sink marks but nothing serious.

Very nice. Looks like very little filler was needed.

Looking good, David. I went a couple of years or more without breaking any of my micro drill bits then promptly broke three in about as many weeks.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

It's looking good, what are you planning to use for rigging wire?
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

There were no gaps just very slight steps along the seams.VickersVandal wrote:Very nice. Looks like very little filler was needed.

I'm going to rig the model with Knitting In Elastic Alan.splash wrote:It's looking good, what are you planning to use for rigging wire?

Nice work on the 'pit and buttoning up the fuselage, David!
I've always had a real soft-spot for the Vimy since I read about Alcock & Brown's epic flight way back when and I'm going to enjoy watching your version come together.

Re: Lancfan's Transatlantic Bomber
Do you use through holes when you rig with elastic thread or just placement holes (partially int the wing)? I use elastic thread when I want to avoid drilling through where normally I use nylon with through holes, so I'm surprised to see someone doing both at once.lancfan wrote:I'm going to rig the model with Knitting In Elastic Alan.splash wrote:It's looking good, what are you planning to use for rigging wire?

Makes me think of the Gladiator, that still waits to get rigged by me.
...and I almost "shot" a Frog Vimy on eebee, but in the end I refrained from it. Maybe was a mistake?
This has a lot of rigging to it, no?

Re: Lancfan's Transatlantic Bomber
There is quite a lot of rigging Crashpilot but the size of the model helps to make the task easier.Crashpilot wrote:This has a lot of rigging to it, no?

Re: Lancfan's Transatlantic Bomber
The ailerons were fitted to the drilled lower wings which were in turn cemented to the fuselage, when the adhesive had dried I filled the seams with Revell Plasty filler.
The underside is shown after the filler had been sanded down.
The next step was to cement the drilled lower tailplanes and both fins followed by both the wing and tailplane interplane struts.
