Greg's 50 year old swinger
Greg's 50 year old swinger
That's the model, not me btw.
In 1966 Revell released a model of the F111TFX as the F111 was at the time referred to. The model had both USAF and USN versions in and just for something different I will be doing the navy bird. I was going to have a bit of fun here and do it in 'wolfpack' markings but have decided to go OOB instead.
All the best.

This will be fun and o watch, the F111 looked good in Navy colours.
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Yes it sure did!
Re: Greg's 50 year old swinger
I have heard rumour that this isn't the easiest kit to get together. We will have to see. I dropped lucky getting this one dirt cheap off ebay. Still sealed in its inner bag.
The other alternatives were Airfix's early JU87B-2 and Monogram's Grumman Albatross.

Nice score. I built that one as a sprog back in the 70's. I have a re-issue here but it's still in cellophane. Looking forward to this build.

I think I need to get the obligatory "Oldest Swinger In Town" joke in now

Re: Greg's 50 year old swinger
Ok. Is it just me or is there a strange feeling when you tear open the sealed bag from a very old kit?
This F111TFX is around 50 years old so that meant that no one had touched these plastic parts for about half a century. When I was but a tiny baby. That felt weird. Still the aardvark is out of the bag so to speak and here's the pics to prove it. Small progress tonight as I am exhausted. Sarah was rushed into hospital late last night and she's undergone tests and hopefully we will get to the bottom of her health problems. That meant I have had about an hour and a half sleep in the last 40 hours. Just hit the bench for 30 mins or so to wind down. She will be ok btw.
I have done a little painting and drilled the first two holes under the Revell F111 wings for the pylons. The Navy F111 was to have four under each wing and that is what I will be aiming for.
All the best.
