Greg's 50 year old swinger

Pre-1980 boxings of any kit, but preferably hard to obtain -- something that would make a collector cringe to see built.

You're doing sterling work with this, Greg. With the Airfix version I built the other year all of the "working" features, namely, the tailplanes, wings and ejection pod, were firmly glued in place!

Work is the curse of the modelling classes!

Cheers Shaun. I did have the undercarriage unit fully working but decided to glued it up so a brush and liquid polly came out to play. Like yours the pod, wings and tailplanes will be glued up.

All the best.

Thought it about time I made some more progress and put up to date pics on. I won't bore you with mundane chat as all has gone pretty well, except that main undercart was a little tricky.

All the best.

Just a quick update. More citadel scar white on the bottom and some assembly late. Starting to look a bit F111ish methinks.

All the best.

Why didn’t the UK get the F111 after the cancellation of the TSR2?

To put in a nutshell. Even though the F111k was in production for the RAF with the first two example nearing completion a certain political braniac in charge of this country decided that the F111 was expensive and pulled the plug.(see reason for canning TSR2) Leaving us with a massive defense gap. I am trying so hard not to go on a political rant here. I had better shut up.

All the best.

I hope so Greg.
I have filled the pod area and sanded it down. Guide goat of grey and much more sanding to do. I am planning on making the tomcat decals fit the F111 airframe. Lucky I have two sets as spares and can rob a third set from a kit if need be.

All the best.

Small update and unfortunately no pictures as there isn't really much to photograph of any worthy changes. More filler around the cockpit pod and nose and more white paint added. Pics after sanding and yet more white paint.

All the best.

I agree. Putty sand repeat gets tedious at times, but we have good friends on here to share it with..
