I suspect the Matchbox kit is nicer than this! It's okay, but a bit crude. The wing spars are solid in the kit, and certainly not in real life.

Canopy on. The small windows in the rear fuselage will be Glue n glazed, as the actual plastic bits do not fit flush with the fuselage!

The wings on the Matchbox kit interlock with a solid spar that fills the gap. Much like the Frog kit ftom what I can see from your pictures. It doesn't have the small windows in the tail however. Itvis still a nice kit though.

All the best.

Slightly tempted to cut part of the wing spars out on this to make it a wee bit more realistic. Current plan is assemble and paint fuselage , then add the painted wings afterwards.

Steady! that sort of thing is infectious and next thing you know the razor saw will be out and you'll be deflecting the flaps or adding a full rear office for the spy etc etc. I've been down that route many times :ha:

I use G 'n' G all the time now for small windows and rarely even bother with the kit supplied glazing.

You could use a couple of thin brass rods to replace the thick spar.

Yes, I might try that. I;ve been dry-fitting the wings, and the fit is terrible!

Meanwhile here is the main fuselage assembly.

My attempt at the camo on the upper wing has gone pear-shaped, and I will need to redo it.

Wow did that build up nicely!

It takes no small amount of skill to get results like that!

I'm thinking the Frog kit looks a fair bit better than the Airfix version.

The new lighter interior green looks great and will certainly set off everything under the glass nicely.

Looking better and better! You've a fair bit of framing to mask there but I'll wager it will be worth it too see all that interior.

By the time the very large wings are on, it will be very difficult to see anything :-D

Here is one of the said wings, repainted after a bad coat of green. This now passes muster. Note that I'm using slightly lighter shades of grey and green than I usually do, just to see what the effect will be.

The other one is now in the paint shop, but seems to have a problem - maybe a grease spot on it, stopping the green from covering properly.

Thanks. Now looking a bit less tidy, as I've put the grey and green upper camo on the fuselage and wings.

The underside is black, and the demarcation line between the upper colours is quite high up. The undersides have been re-primed since these photos were taken, and with any luck, I'll be able to get a coat of black on after I've made this post. This largely depends on whether I have to cook supper or not. Higher authority has not mentioned it yet.
