Re: Historical References
Smashing photos, thanks for sharing. I like the Triplanes but don't they look a bit odd from the front?, with so many wings stacked up!.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Re: Historical References
I must apologize - I haven't put up any resources here. I shall try to do better.
Thanks for those excellent photos, Sunray.
I'll start by linking this DR1 website. Plenty of good stuff here, including colour profiles for anyone (like me) still not absolutely decides on a scheme.

Here's a sight that would have surely struck terror into any allied pilot of 1917/18....

Re: Historical References
Two photos of Kempf's DR1 or DR1s
Compare; which side of the tailpane is black, the black border to the rudder, the style of the top wing crosses, the style of the writing on the wings. Possibly two different aeroplanes going by the way the streaky green is applied. In a repaint that would not be repainted
I've seen a photo which was like a mix of these two; wings and writing as in photo 1 but the tail end like photo 2, the K on the side was a different style but with a black outline as the top wing letters in photo 2.

Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.
