Oh, and I've started on the wings.

I've put the pronunciation problem to Mrs W who is a German teacher and speaks the language fluently, here's what she says:

Werner = Verner

Voss = Foss

von = fon.

The Fokker house colour for underneath was a light turquoise

My guess would be that he has yet to apply the lighter streaks over the green.

Green is going on top and sides, although though I wotsited up and painted the underside of the wings green!! . Still, light blue will go over dark green, right? .
Lancfan is right, I have yet to go streaky!!! . Not sure whether to come up with a way of doing it then going straight to the model, or practice first. Probably practice eh?

I'd go the practice route, Mark. I'm pretty much clueless when it comes to replicating a lot of these WW I schemes!

Hey Marky, I'd suggest having a practice run, but the streaky finish is actually a relatively easy one to produce. It's the one time you actually want your brush painting to turn out all streaked and inconsistent!

For mine, I laid down the blue (I used a spraycan), then I used Tamiya XF62 and a broad, flat brush (https://www.eckersleys.com.au/site/asse ... rushes.jpg;) and slowly streaked the paint from front to back on the wings or top of fuselage to bottom. I didn't mix the paint too much - I actually wanted the more watery paint that usually sits on top before you stir it up.
For the wings, the streaks should run at an angle of about 20 degrees to the left (when viewed from behind) and then I think it's more like 45 degrees for the top of the fuselage and tail.

Even if the blue doesn't go on so well over the green you already put down, it won't really matter since the streaking should hide any inconsistency.

Thanks VV. That is helpful. Just to be clear, you streak the paint while it's wet?. I know it seems obvious but I like to be sure!!. . I've managed to over-paint the green underside with blue (Hum 65), although the 1/72 Airfix kit says Hum 109 for this. Anyone know for sure?.
Shaun: I think practice is best too!. I tend to stick to more solid overall colours when it comes to WWI type, no lozenges for me!!.

P.S. Fighting extreme indifference to modelling lately. Will push to try and get this one done though. My railway layout is the best and worst thing to do, it's more animated and interactive than modelling but it's taking me away from said modelling. Will have to think over why I do models, things have changed since my teens when it was an escape and delight to have a miniature version of a real thing on my shelf.
Might try and animate my models, perhaps a small motor to make the prop go round or lights for jet engine exhausts!!.

I've got one of these beasts in the stash. Shame there isn't a 1/28th SE.5a to go with it!
