Do you still remember me?. Kempf's Tripe

Post by Gregers »

'Forget me not', or 'Remember me yet' I have heard his slogan painted on the middle wing translated as both.
What ever it was it was a bold statement. Here's the place marker for my build.

All the best.

I always think it was daft to have the message in German and readable from the rear; was it for his squadron mates who were bouncing him? or for the enemy he was about to get?

I have altered the title after some research into the translation. Apparently it is Swabian dialect, and Kempf's usual greeting to comrades he hadn't seen for a while.

Be aware that Kempf had at least 2 Dr1, possibly even three, each painted slightly differently

Cheers for the info Fred. I will certainly check my references. May end up with a 'representative' build depending on the decals.

All the best.

Were they all painted in the standard green streak?

Yes, as far as I can see they were in standard DR1 streaky green, but a bit more soild than on some DR1s
The differences were in
the style of the wing writing,
the style of the K on the fuselage,
the presentation of the K, on a coloured block or not,
which half of the tailplane was white or black,
the underside of the tailplanes; the same as the top or counter painted or painted black/white at all,
whether the rudder had a black edge or not

Sorry V V. Not had chance to attack the plastic on this yet. Hopefully later today I will get some bench time in.

Well. The gloves are off. Here is the sprue shot. To be honest I don't have a clue what kit this is.it was in the box with an Airfix Jaguar kit I bought at a show from under the table.

All the best.

Just a quick update to prove I haven't forgotten about this. Started on the painting. I think this is the Revell kit but I am not sure as there are no instructions. Can anyone let me know please?

All the best.

I'll check tomorrow; my DR1 kits are in my storage unit.
Do you need the instructions if it is?

It does look like the newest Revell kit
