Splash plays with lots and lots of Brass
This kit might be a step too far for me, as I have little experience using PE, apart from small scale ships railings.
Looking at the design I think the wings might be easier to build than they look, I certainly hope so.
Here is the kit, wish me luck guys.

Re: Splash plays with Brass
I had that kit once, but it was slightly damaged and the devil to straighten pieces - I gave up.
I do recommend learning to solder finely; too fiddly to just try to CA it.
I'm sure you'll persevere ...

I'll be watching this with great interest as I've been eyeing up this kit for ages......
Good luck and fingers crossed for you!

That is an interesting kit and I imagine one that will be quite a challenge to get right - certainly there is more PE there than I would fancy tackling. Best of luck with it!

Wow, Splash! I do admire your sense of adventure.
I once talked to a fellow about this type of kit. He said the only way to do it is to set the fuselage into a wooden form which protects the sidewalls as construction progresses.
In any event, I do wish you luck! I'll be following this one, for sure. Please post everything, even the sweat droplets and proof of hair loss.

Alan good sir, you are a far braver modeler than I. No way would I attempt this kit. I take it you use very little of the actual plastic?
All the best.

Very little of the plastic gets used, I think just the engine, cowl, wing spars and struts, seat and u/c parts.Gregers wrote:Alan good sir, you are a far braver modeler than I. No way would I attempt this kit. I take it you use very little of the actual plastic?

I have picked up the box looked at the PE and put it down again several time, but today I finally cut my first bits out and made a start.
Using a fresh No 10 curved blade and a dark hard Perspex sheet I cut out the top wing and the plastic wing spar, I find using a rocking motion with a curved blade makes a cleaner cut and reduces the chance of parts pinging off, some people suggest using a flat chisel blade but the curved blade works for me.
The kit instructions are clear and show the order the PE parts need to be bent and the design of the parts are ingenious, it only took me an hour to get the main parts of the top wing assembled.
I thougt about using soldering but when I realised how big the parts are I gave up on that idea and used thin superglue.
This is made from just two parts

Looks a million times better than my usual PE ability!!. Bodes well for the rest of the build.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

Eduard have put a lot of thought into this kit.
To make the wings leading edge surfaces, they supply you with a resin jig that automatically shapes the curved wings leading edges, very clever and simple to use.
To attached the leading edges I have used PVA as it gives you more time to get the parts lined up.

A coat of primer has made the fine detail in this kit stand out.
