I think I might have a cunning plan.

Looking at the kits parts layout, a lot of the plastic parts are redundant, in fact all the parts marked in blue on the image below are spare, I think I have enough parts to build a second a/c, the only parts missing are the engine cowling the upper wing central struts and the u/c struts and cross bar & the prop, apart from the engine cowling all the other parts are easily scratch built.

So my cunning plan is build it as an a/c under maintenance with the prop and cowling off.

I don't have any decals so the marking need to be from scratch, I'm thinking anything apart from red :-D

I'm now starting to question my own sanity working on this scale.

Progress is slow but I'm getting there

I some times think manufacturers add detail just because they can, for example the detail behind the engine firewall will never be seen once the top deck and side panels are on, pluss why add a resin engine when the plastic kit part is totally adequate?

Excellent!

Those wheels look fantastic with a primer coat on!

That's looking stunning!

I have to disagree about the kit engine though. I actually think it's woeful - surprisingly bad given what I expected of Eduard. I have replaced it on my build with one from a Roden kit.

I hope your resin engine is a lot better than the injected part.

Having now taken a closer look at the plastic and resin engine I can see what you mean.

That is absolutely brilliant Alan, I hope they make other aircraft in this series, I would definitely go for the Bristol Fighter and Fokker D.VII if they made them.

David.

Top work, Alan, that really is looking very good. The standard plastic engine in VV's kit is lamentable to say that it is an Eduard product and I presume that the same engine lurks within this kit also. The resin replacement is definitely a huge improvement!

I remember befor starting this kit I quandered over what method to use for the PE, PVA, super glue or solder?

I decided my soldering skills aren’t that good and the chances of me screwing up was high so PVA came out as the sensible choice.

Today My decision has been ratified, whilst making the lower wing I attached the wing to the main spar and centre body and thought something did not look right, it quickly dawned on me that I had attached the wing on the wrong way around  luckily the PVA gave up its grip quite easily and the wing went back on with no drama, imagine if I had used super glue
