Daz's Waldo Pepper Wasp - **DONE! AT LAST!**

Post by DazDaMan »

So yeah, this is what I'll be attempting....

Image

From the 1975 film The Great Waldo Pepper, a Fokker Dr.1 in the markings of fictitious ace Ernst Kessler, whom Waldo dogfights with at the end of the film.

The kit I shall be using is one of these:

I don't think I've ever built one before, so this could be fun!

That will look sweet. Good choice.

All the best.

I've not had a chance to do anything to this yet - will try to get something on the desk by Thursday, with any luck.

How did you go, Daz? Did Thursday give you the bench time you were hoping for?

It did not.

This has not been a good week for model work, really. I've had to repair several because of an inconsiderate housemate, including one of my rather rare 1/48th Buchons that was almost a write-off due to several parts going AWOL.

I will get onto it on Monday, with any luck.

I'll hopefully be making a start to this one tomorrow (Monday 9th). I hope I have enough black and yellow paint!

So, here's the obligatory shot of the bits....

Then I started Fokking around with the paint....

This is just the first coat. The aircraft is all black underneath. Doing those chessboard markings on top is gonna be fun...!

Getting some yellow paint on the beast....

You can also see that the fuselage halves have gone together and are drying well. Need to touch up some of the black paint before I do anything else, though.

Quick work! That yellow has gone on remarkably well considering the awful red plastic underneath.
