Re: Daz's Waldo Pepper Wasp
There's a challenge there and no mistake. It looks like you're meeting it though.
Are you aware of the trick of painting Klear (or whatever substitute you have) along the edge of the tape to seal it? It tends to prevent the paint from bleeding under the tape, particularly when brush painting.

I was not aware of that one, but I might have to give it a bash, particularly as the ribbing on the wings makes it a bit more troublesome!
Luckily I bought two of these wee beasts so, if it goes south (which I suspect it will!), I have a spare if I need it.

Re: Daz's Waldo Pepper Wasp
The Klear is good, but you can also use the same colour you are painting over.
Run the point of a fresh scalpel blade along the edge on the tape before removing it. The klear or paint can form a bridge and when you pull the tape off it might remove a few chips along the edge which you then have to touch in. Cutting with the scalpel helps limit this
Frog tape is supposed to have a water-acrylic activated barrier built in. I think it does. When I use it with acrylics I don't get any under-bleed, but I sometines do with enamels

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Aaaaargh! sooner you than me here, Daz. I don't have a great deal of hair left to pull out myself but I think blood pressure would be my primary concern if I was attempting to brush paint this scheme. Best of luck!

I've done a wee bit more today, and the paint job is slowly coming good.
I hope!!

I think there's too many squares on the tail.....
The upper wings aren't going so well - had to paint over some of them.

I think you're right, Daz. Judging by the photo there are fewer squares and that includes those extended onto the elevators. It would send me boz eyed painting that scheme - it's certainly not a hangover cure that's for sure

Re: Daz's Waldo Pepper Wasp
The Fokker's paint job isn't going so well. I've had to repaint most of the upper wing as the squares I had started painting weren't right!
The wings are all on, however, so I just need to attempt painting the squares on again....!

Story so far...
I must say, I'm not enjoying this one that much!
I actually bought the 1/48th version as a standby, but I doubt I'd get much done before the deadline.

Re: Daz's Waldo Pepper Wasp
It's looking pretty good so far Daren; painting that many squares, in such differing colours and at 1/72 can't be much fun!
Best wishes

Calling this one DONE!
I apologise for the crap photos - my old faithful digi-cam seems to be finally giving up the ghost after over five years of service....!
It's still a little rough in spots, especially the lettering, but I will tidy that up once I've regained some sanity. And yes, the slogan and the Lola name were all hand-painted with a hairy stick...!
