Dazzled Stank ....Ready for Duty
I think I spelled the title right
I picked this up especially for the GB.
Trumpeter's rendition of the unique Swedish S tank.
A quick spin around the box contents:
Typical Trumpeter instructions
Typical Trumpeter weird colour call-outs. I think RLM02 is far too dark so I'll be going with Tamiya XF-65 Field Grey.
The parts though are as nice as we've come to expect.
And the detail is very crisp.
So, I'm ready to go

Great choice! That S Tank concept has always fascinated me.

I thought you'd forgotten your anti-perspirant or something Daz Great looking kit of a very interesting AFV.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Anti-perspirant? What's that?
I did a bit of midnight oil burning last night (I was up until 2am) getting a start on the S tank. I find with an armour kit that it's best to get some things out of the way with at the start and I'm glad I did start this one straight away.
First there are some holes to open in the upper hull. 12 in all and Trumpeter have marked which ones are appropriate for each variant.
Then the top and bottom hull halves were joined.
When I bought the kit it had on the box "crack in hull". This was in the small "bar at the back which I joined together with the brightly coloured bulldog clip.
Then the two main parts of the gun barrel were cemented and put aside to dry.
And the roadwheels mounted on sticks and painted overall in Tamiya XF-69 NATO Black.
And then everything was left overnight to dry.
This morning I made a start on filing the seams in the hull.
Mr Surfacer 500 wasn't entirely successful and I had to redo it with good old Squadron Green. And while I had the Green out I used it to fill this rather nasty sink mark.
Apart from this I've added a few parts to the upper hull and cleaned up the seam in the gun barrel. At the moment everything is having a drying period.
More updates soon

Yes, a good start Daz. I don't have that sort of modelling stamina though - I'd have nodded off at the bench long before two in the morning!

Re: Dazzled Stank
And a bit more progress. Some yesterday and some this morning as I was up at 5AM (I really must get my sleep pattern sorted out )
So, lots of bits added to the hull including the commander's cupola and the suspension parts. All the filling is completed too.
I should be painting quite soon

Re: Dazzled Stank
I use the melted pin method. I did it this afternoon but haven't taken pictures of the tracks yet. I do it in the kitchen. Just fire up the hob, heat up a scalpel blade and gently melt the pins over....simples
And I made other progress too. By the end of last night a few more bits had been added.
Having the gun fitted certainly makes it look a bit more "S-Tanky"
And, with an hour or so to spare this evening I added a little preliminary paint to areas that will be hard to reach later.
While I had the airbrush loaded I whipped out my circle template and painted the wheels too.
I used Tamiya XF-65 as I felt the recommended RLM 02 was too grey. XF-65 is Field Grey so will be familiar to any WW2 military modellers as it was the colour of German army uniforms at the start of the war. It is a nice greyish green and, to me at least, it looks much more like the correct shade for this vehicle.
And finally, the question of whether or not I name all my pegs?
NO I DON'T. That would be silly. Of course I don't name ALL my pegs. Just some of them.

Re: Dazzled Stank
Zooming along with this one Daz which is good to see as you can find any issues before me.
There does seem to be a lot of parts for a tank without a turret.
