Chuck's Finnish Gnat F.1 in 1/72 *Finished*
With my SAAB J-21R in the final stretch, I figure it's time to start thinking about cleaning another kit from my stash and moving it to the tarmac. For my second build, I will be building the Folland Gnat F.1 from Special Hobby in 1/72. The aircraft will be made up as the first Gnat delivered to the Finnish Air Force on June 30, 1958.
In addition I will be building a one of a kind aircraft from A Model that will not be part of this build. I tend to have two or three builds going on at the same time that use the same interior paints for prepainting.

On second thoughts, let's not go to Camelot. It is a silly place!

Excellent, I like the look of the rarer (to a British modeller used to the RAF's trainer version at any rate) single-seat Gnat, Chuck. That Piper is certainly a different looking biz-jet.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

I have the initial build on this tiny jet fighter. I should begin painting on Monday.
To give you an idea of how tiny the Gnat F1 is, I placed the Sword FJ-3M Fury beside it for scale.

I've built two of them and you're right, teeny tiny fighter here! I've never built the Special Hobby one though - that looks like a good kit and it's gone together very nicely.

Nice one, Chuck and indeed the Gnat lives up to its name, they are very small jets!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I humbly present what is probably the smallest jet fighter of the post war era that actually saw service. Of course a 12 aircraft in total doesn't make much of a force. The picture setting is my train track. In any case here it is:
Folland Gnat F.1, GN-101 Kreivi von Rosen (Count von Rosen), HavLv 11/HamLsto, Ilmamoivat, Luonetjarvi, summer 1971. This was the first Gnat delivered to the Finnish Air Force on 30 June 1958.
For an idea of just how small the aircraft is, the aircraft is paired with the pilot figure from my Monogram F-4D Phantom II and the Airfix Hawk 100 (Not the biggest airplane by far.)

Lovely looking Gnat. Not seen many wearing any sort of camo, and yours looks great.

Wow, smaller than the BAe Hawk, even! Nice work. An Indian Air Force Ajeet Sabre Killer as well one day, perhaps?

Lovely work. It's nice to see 'Count Von Rosen' applied to the Gnat, a lovely looking fighter that I've always liked. Pity so few Air Forces used them.

Very nice indeed, Chuck. What a great looking little fighter the single-seat Gnat was.
